Just The Girl – Chapter Fifty Four (a HYD-inspired fic)

“Porter, I-I.. ACHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” Right on cue and before the blonde could utter her protest, Tina sneezed for the hundredth time. Much to the brunette’s delight, it was her loudest one yet.

Oh this is too easy, Bette suppressed a grin as she heard the unmistakable sound of people sucking in air and holding their breath. Her ingenious plan was showing signs of working. Humans were so predictable and gullible.

Less than a minute later, the shuttle came to a screeching halt at the entrance of the first stop, the resort’s Tropical Fruit Garden. As the doors opened, virtually everyone around Bette and Tina ran towards the exit – even the people who were planning to go down at the succeeding stops. The handful of brave souls left behind rallied to the other side of the shuttle, leaving the part where the young couple were completely unoccupied. Throwing wary glances at the two teens – especially Tina – they shamelessly covered their noses and mouths with their hands.

“What?” A harmless-looking Bette asked as she guided Tina to the seat previously occupied by the kind woman – who was now splashing her face furiously with water outside. She sat down beside her and crossed her legs, settling right into place. The blonde was giving her the evil eye as she rubbed her reddened nose with the tissue.

Bette shrugged and smiled angelically. “At least we’re sitting down.”

    Lopa Beach

As Tina had predicted, the refreshing ocean breeze cleared her sinuses and drove her allergies out from her body. Bette was relieved. The blonde was looking herself again and the intense redness on her nose had faded into a light pink color – a color that made Tina look vibrant instead of alarmingly infectious.

After scouring the beach for a nice place to spread out their humongous towel, they settled on a semi-shaded spot underneath a couple of tall coconut trees. Prone to bad bouts of sunburn, Tina wanted to keep her skin away from the sun’s rays – that is, until she finished applying sunblock. She would rather go around Lana’i with a healthy glow about her then looking like a ripe tomato. And so she was grateful that they were able to find this spot. It was perfect. Some would even say romantic. Romantic in the sense that they were all alone, since most of the people at the beach were surfers and sunbathers, lounging in areas near the crisp blue waters. The only downside to this place was Bette’s neurotic behavior of looking up every few minutes when the wind blew, paranoia driving her to think that a coconut would be falling on her head soon. Tina thought it was funny, Bette not so much.

    2. There is so much that could happen, and you say the End is next…will they remain together or fall apart? I can finally read now that the tears have cleared, thanks for the post!!

    3. god how i love this story, every chapter is like a mini book! i’m not right stoked to read that the next will be the last though, i absolutely love how you write these two…especially bette! my only hope is that you keep them together and that you promise to carry on writing other stories…well????!

    4. What was Tina going to say to Bette on the beach? Will Tina be able to forgive Bette for not saying goodbye? Will Tina catch the next available flight out to Connecticut? I hope so… I can’t wait to see how you wrap everything up, but I’m really going to miss this story. Thanks for the chapter.

    5. This has/is an incredible story. I look for it daily and was so glad to see a post today. Please say it isn’t so, Your not ending it are you? Their still young and have slots to go through. A sequel maybe?.

    6. WOW!!!!! I just got a chance to read all 37 pages of it-it was a long one…but well worth it. I can understand why Bette went ahead & left-but Tina will be hurt…but I think she will understand. I hope they can work through this & I can’t wait for the next update. Great job.

    7. *Sniffle* Oh dear, this has got to be the saddest JTG chapter. *Sniffle* So begging on my knees didn’t work. *Sniffle* I don’t know how they’ll ever get to eternity when it’s hard to say they’ll even get to survive the next 24 hours, weeks or months apart. *Sniffle* I hope Tina will still change her mind but if not…then, *Thank you very much* for this lovely, funny, sometimes sexy high school TiBette tale. It’s been a great ride, Alchemy! *Crysmiles like Bette* Okay… I’m gonna go to a corner now and cry my heart out. Boohoo. :(

    8. Hey Alchemy! So glad to have you back with another chapter, but extremely sad that the end is coming. I have loved this story from the beginning as your writing is incredible. I have the feeling Tina had decided to go with Bette, but will maybe stick to their plan now that Bette has left. Bette’s letter had me teary-eyed which is one of the best things about your writing… one minute I’m laughing out loud, the next I’m choked up. Thanks for the post.
