A smarting Shane poured herself another shot and sank deep into her chair.
“Uh, excuse us a minute.” Bette stood up abruptly and tugged on the blonde’s arm, dragging her out of her seat. “Al, what the heck are you doing?” She whispered sharply as she pulled the blonde to the other room.
“What else? I’m comforting Shane!”
“By making her feel like shit?”
“I’m building her up!”
“No you’re not, you’re breaking her down!”
“But-”
“No buts Alice. Stop it.” Bette said sternly.
The blonde sighed, dropping her head in defeat. She can’t argue with her friend looking at her like that. “Fine, I’ll behave.”
“Thanks.” The brunette messed with the blonde’s hair, earning swats from the annoyed girl.
“Can we go back in now?”
“Uh, about that..” Bette looked at her wristwatch and studied the time. “I think I better go.”
“Do you have plans?”
“Sort of. Kennard and I need to test out a couple of equipments at home.” Bette answered absentmindedly. As soon as the words left her lips, she began to regret saying them. Dammit, she cursed inwardly when she saw the sudden quirk of Alice’s eyebrow. She knew she should have phrased that sentence properly.
As anticipated, her friend looked at her with a naughty gleam in her eye. Bette fought the urge to wipe that smug grin off her face with the blanket on Duke’s basket. “What sort of equipment Porter? The strap-on kind? Or maybe the vibrating ones?”
“Funny, Al.” Bette responded curtly. “We’re testing out the new laptops that daddy gave us. We’ve already tried chatting and email. I need to get home so we could start checking out the webcams and the headsets.”
“And you’re doing that because-?”
“We need to practice. You know, so we’ll be used to the whole ‘communicating-through-the-net’ thing when we leave for college.”
“Oh. I see. Isn’t that a little sad?”
Bette shrugged. “What else can we do?”
“Uh, I dunno, go to the same school together?”
“If only.” Bette sighed. “Tell that to Kennard.”
“Maybe I will.” Alice declared confidently.
Bette didn’t know if the blonde was serious or if it was just the alcohol talking. Either way, she laughed at the blonde. “Thanks Al, and good luck with that.” She said before turning around to say goodbye to Shane and Sam.

wow that was a loooonnnnggg but fantastic chapter.how harsh is Bette just leaving for Yale like that!!!anyway,it will be a sad day when this story ends but yet i can’t wait til the end to find out what happens.PPS cheers
There is so much that could happen, and you say the End is next…will they remain together or fall apart? I can finally read now that the tears have cleared, thanks for the post!!
god how i love this story, every chapter is like a mini book! i’m not right stoked to read that the next will be the last though, i absolutely love how you write these two…especially bette! my only hope is that you keep them together and that you promise to carry on writing other stories…well????!
What was Tina going to say to Bette on the beach? Will Tina be able to forgive Bette for not saying goodbye? Will Tina catch the next available flight out to Connecticut? I hope so… I can’t wait to see how you wrap everything up, but I’m really going to miss this story. Thanks for the chapter.

This has/is an incredible story. I look for it daily and was so glad to see a post today. Please say it isn’t so, Your not ending it are you? Their still young and have slots to go through. A sequel maybe?.

WOW!!!!! I just got a chance to read all 37 pages of it-it was a long one…but well worth it. I can understand why Bette went ahead & left-but Tina will be hurt…but I think she will understand. I hope they can work through this & I can’t wait for the next update. Great job.
*Sniffle* Oh dear, this has got to be the saddest JTG chapter. *Sniffle* So begging on my knees didn’t work. *Sniffle* I don’t know how they’ll ever get to eternity when it’s hard to say they’ll even get to survive the next 24 hours, weeks or months apart. *Sniffle* I hope Tina will still change her mind but if not…then, *Thank you very much* for this lovely, funny, sometimes sexy high school TiBette tale. Hey Alchemy! So glad to have you back with another chapter, but extremely sad that the end is coming. I have loved this story from the beginning as your writing is incredible. I have the feeling Tina had decided to go with Bette, but will maybe stick to their plan now that Bette has left. Bette’s letter had me teary-eyed which is one of the best things about your writing… one minute I’m laughing out loud, the next I’m choked up. Thanks for the post.
