Just The Girl – Chapter Fifty Four (a HYD-inspired fic)
“Mm-hmm.”
“Are we gonna go there?”
“Yep.”
“Today?”
“Tomorrow.”
“Why not now? We have the whole afternoon ahead of us.”
“Cause,” Bette took off her sunglasses and laid it to rest on top of her head. “I was thinking we could spend the rest of the day in our suite..” She whispered seductively, her voice filled with sultry undertones.
“But we’re in Hawaii! We should be out exploring the island, not spend an entire day holed up in our room. I mean, what would we do there except watch TV, sleep and have..”
Silence.
And now she gets it, Bette thought as she rested her chin lazily on her hand. “All those coconuts made your brain slow, eh?” She tapped the side of her forehead with a finger.
“Damn.” Tina cursed to herself, putting the drink away.
“Next time, I’m taking you to the middle of nowhere. That way you won’t have a choice but to stay in bed with me.” Bette winked as she pushed herself up from the chaise. She extended a hand to the blonde. “You still want to go to the Garden of the Gods?”
“Nah, we could go there tomorrow or the day after that.”
“Back to the room then?”
“Lead the way.”

Day Two
Stepping inside the resort’s small shuttle, Bette frowned at how packed it was. There weren’t any seats left, and much to her annoyance, they had to stand elbow to elbow with the other tourists. Why’d she have to agree to go slumming with the rest of the pack instead of renting a private car for her and Tina? She wanted to smack herself behind the head for her lack of foresight. She should have known that the morning shuttle would be full.
Next thing she knew, she and Tina were practically pushed to the back of the vehicle by a rowdy group of surfers. She scrunched her face and fought the urge to pinch the bridge of her nose. God, she hated the smell of sunscreen. And as luck would have had it, everyone beside her was reeking of it. Just great, she rolled her eyes.

There is so much that could happen, and you say the End is next…will they remain together or fall apart? I can finally read now that the tears have cleared, thanks for the post!!
god how i love this story, every chapter is like a mini book! i’m not right stoked to read that the next will be the last though, i absolutely love how you write these two…especially bette! my only hope is that you keep them together and that you promise to carry on writing other stories…well????!
What was Tina going to say to Bette on the beach? Will Tina be able to forgive Bette for not saying goodbye? Will Tina catch the next available flight out to Connecticut? I hope so… I can’t wait to see how you wrap everything up, but I’m really going to miss this story. Thanks for the chapter.
Wow that was an amazing chapter! and so many looming questions. PPS
Wow-your story never ceases to amaze me. I love it and your writing, and I hope to see both soon in a sequel to this story! PPS!
This has/is an incredible story. I look for it daily and was so glad to see a post today. Please say it isn’t so, Your not ending it are you? Their still young and have slots to go through. A sequel maybe?.
Its coming to an end, does it have to? I love this chapter for all the right reasons. Please dont keep to long for the next one. Thanks
WOW!!! That was Amazing!!! I just hope that the end will be just as good. Thank you PPS
WOW!!!!! I just got a chance to read all 37 pages of it-it was a long one…but well worth it. I can understand why Bette went ahead & left-but Tina will be hurt…but I think she will understand. I hope they can work through this & I can’t wait for the next update. Great job.
*Sniffle* Oh dear, this has got to be the saddest JTG chapter. *Sniffle* So begging on my knees didn’t work. *Sniffle* I don’t know how they’ll ever get to eternity when it’s hard to say they’ll even get to survive the next 24 hours, weeks or months apart. *Sniffle* I hope Tina will still change her mind but if not…then, *Thank you very much* for this lovely, funny, sometimes sexy high school TiBette tale. It’s been a great ride, Alchemy! *Crysmiles like Bette* Okay… I’m gonna go to a corner now and cry my heart out. Boohoo. :(
This is sad !
That ws beautiful and sad, it brought tears to my eyes.
I laughed and cried ….. It just broke my heart :( But there has to be a happy ending in here some where :)
Great chptr, Al will there be a sequl to this story maybe College life ???
Hey Alchemy! So glad to have you back with another chapter, but extremely sad that the end is coming. I have loved this story from the beginning as your writing is incredible. I have the feeling Tina had decided to go with Bette, but will maybe stick to their plan now that Bette has left. Bette’s letter had me teary-eyed which is one of the best things about your writing… one minute I’m laughing out loud, the next I’m choked up. Thanks for the post.
Sniff sniff. This was hard, I laughed and cried very hard. How come? Tina go get you future wife please?
