The Greatest Love Story Ever Told

Bette stopped what she was doing at the sound of Tina’s voice an slumped back into the chair “Tee, you are not going to believe this”

“What” Tina made her way over to the desk and picked up one of the discarded cards “To my darling Elizabeth, Always thinking of you, All my love Mum” Tina looked to Bette confused “I thought you hadn’t heard a peep from her since she…”

“Disappeared of the face of the earth” Bette filled in the blank, “There is a birthday card and Christmas card which was addressed to me for every year since I was 8 Tina, he has had these for years and he didn’t say a word”

Tina was at a loss for words for the briefest of moments, this was the last thing Bette needed right now. She took a step closer, her path to offer Bette whatever comfort she could was blocked by Bette reaching over to retrieve a hand written note.

“Listen to this” Bette said holding the note in both hands “I know you must hate me by now, but I want you to know I tried, I tried for years to see you” Bette paused for a second scanning the remainder of the note “ Now that your old enough, I hope with all my that I am that you can find it in your heart to get in touch” Bette tossed the note, it missed the desk and landed on the floor. “What the fuck, She was my mother god dammit, there was not a court in the land who wouldn’t have granted her some kind of access, what was she Tina some kind of fucking monster”

Tina sighed she wished she had the answers, where obviously at least for now there wasn’t any, whatever she said could only lead to more questions, what they both needed now was some rest they had been without a wink of sleep for over 24 hours, somehow she needed to get Bette to lie down. “Babe please, I know your head is spinning what with everything that’s happened but your exhausted and we are not going to figure anything out tonight” Tina took Bette’s hands and gently pulled her to her feet “Tomorrow, we will think about it tomorrow, ok”

    1. Skimmy, I’m not sure I can let go of FLF… I’m sorry. If it makes you feel better, it was never about your legs. Maybe Bette’s? ;) And yay! Helena is back! The way T and Al treat just makes me laugh too freaking much. I’m glad it came out that they both know the risks of the surgery. And as the big geek that I am, I have to say that yeah, Tina wouldn’t forget her love for Bette. Love appears to be located in a different area of the brain than memory :) Sorry for geeking out on you comments, Skimmy!

    2. Skimmy, I have to confess; when I got to the “Promise” word I was a little lost, I had to go back & found I have missed several chapters. I have spent my night reading your story. First let me say sorry about your great loss over the summer. Also hope your sons arm is on the mend. As far as your guys having a normal mom, forget about it, I have 4 kids and none of them have a normal mom, don’t worry about that it helps them build character. I have laughed so hard tonight reading chapter after chapter, you are effing hilarious. That is until I got to this one. Holy sheets woman wasn’t growing up with Melvin enough? What a rat bastard, I think if I were Tina I would go to the grave and piss all over it. Oh the part about the cake was killing me. Can’t wait for more. Thank you, Md aka Oma Oh ya, and if you would have locked the card door, well you know. Thanks again.

    3. You are and always will be ” the Skimminator”! WHat an amazing story this is…thank you so much for taking the time to post here. The menopause cake had me in stitches…LMAOOOO!

    4. Wow Skimmy…that was awesome! That would be quite the thing…finding out your existence wasn’t what you thought it was after all those years. Bette has a lot to sort out and I’m glad Tina is right there with her all the way. This story is getting more intriguing all the time!

    5. Hiya Skimmy! Thanks for the PM hun. I’m ** slowly ** coming along. The chapter rocked. I absolutely loved when Bette said this to Tina: “My love for you is something my heart could never forget, they could wipe my memories clean, dump me in the far corner of the earth and my heart would lead me back home, of that I have no doubt” * Awwww – my heart was melting at that. * Thanks for posting an update! {{ hugs }} ttys.

    6. Oh man, what a mess. Melvin sure was a secretive bastard, wasn’t he? Bette’s really his granddaughter? At least it would explain why he had the mentality of a crusty old man. I hope Bette can find Catherine. Tina’s been a rock, in the past as well as now. No hurdle too big for these guys. I know they’ll be fine. Awesome, skimmer. Thanks :)

    7. What a heck of a chapter. Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. Melvin, the lying old bastard and I can’t blame Tina at all, I, too, would choke the life out of him. This is really terrible for Bette and thank goodness she has Tina and her love to see her thru. This news is just heartbreaking, Melvin should have been ashamed of himself. He died with a very guilty conscience and now he and the devil can make chili powder and matches together. One bright spot in this chapter is when Tina told Bette that, “My love for you is something my heart could never forget, they could wipe my memories clean, dump me in the far corner of the earth and my heart would lead me back home, of that I have no doubt.” How beautiful is that and we all wish for someone to love us like that. That is awesome. Thanks for posting. PPVS
