Life Happens: The One With Tina’s Scary Story
“We should do whatever we want to do.” Alice said. “I actually had nothing planned.”
They murmured their agreement. They would just hang out, spend time in the place where their friend was buried. They would eat, they would talk, they would celebrate by just being there.
“Cool.” Bette shrugged. She looked at Helena a lot during their meal. Helena looked stressed, still. Both women knew that they would be facing a storm when they returned to LA. But Bette watched her with her children, doing her best to nurture them despite her worry. She looked around at their growing family, as strange as the mix was, it was starting to look like home.
“Hey, Helena…” Shane remembered something suddenly. “Where did you put all that bear spray?”
Helena paused with her spoon halfway to her mouth. She and Bette looked slowly up in the direction of Bette’s car.
“Uh fucking oh.” Alice grinned. “You left it in the trunk hey? Maybe you should go check on it, make sure it didn’t fucking explode.”
So they left the kids behind and Helena and Bette made their way back to the car. It was a long hike, and they carried giant sticks to help them up the inclines.
“Jesus, it’s one stress after another.” Helena fumed.
“Wait up…calm down…” Bette struggled to keep up, swatting at some strange little black flies that buzzed around her head. One of them bit her and it itched. “Omigod, I better not get a fucking tick…I saw this artist friend get a tick once…it was fucking disgusting.”
Helena stopped and waited for Bette. They walked more sedately once they were together. They used their sticks to bang against trees—another tip from Helena’s ‘bear paranoia’ website search.
When they got to the car, Helena approached it first.
“Shhh…stay behind me…” She held her hand against Bette’s hip, keeping her back.
Helena tapped the car trunk with her stick. She sniffed the air. Then she relaxed.
“Probably fine.” She shrugged. Bette opened the trunk and they both stared inside. “I guess it’s not like dynamite.” Helena added. “doesn’t explode just from touching it…it’s all in those tin cans…”

OK, so that move to London bit was out of left field and they might have to see if they can buy werewolf repellent if they go. And if we didn’t get much sex out of that, there were quite a few laughs, hard to say which is better in the long run. Loved Kit perturbed by a normal Jenny, which is of course stunning. Liked Tina’s story, too. But as attractive as a move to London might be, I really think Helena needs to face the music over here before she goes.
okay…so what’s up with the moving to london??? hmmm…can’t wait to see how that goes…anyways, i love the bonding the women had with each other even with Jenny’s crazy ass. I can’t wait for the new chapter! Thanks and PPS!
Loved loved loved tina’s story…see this is the tina i like…simple, no craziness, no fickle-ness…good, granola tina…so to london, it is? I say Helena has to get her life together before she takes a leap across the pond.
I am NOT a Tibetter but a LITTLE part of me wanted to see bette with tina in this chapter =O how crazy is that? I mean I LOVE B and H together but I like Tina in your fic  hehe this chapter was great!!! PPS!
I too love the bonding of these core characters (thanks for nothing, IC), and sympathetic Tina as well. I’m guessing normal Jenny is a temporary aberration.
