Life Happens: The One With Tina’s Scary Story

Bette woke up unsettled, despite a long night’s sleep.  The outdoor air and a long hike down to the cabins had worn them all out, accustomed as they were not to exercise in the great out of doors. It took a few moments for Bette to adjust to her surroundings.  She figured the reason for her unrest had something to do with the fact that Helena slept an entire ten feet away from her.  Jun Ying and Wilson were in sleeping bags of their own, and slept close to their mother.

Grumbling to herself, Bette crawled out of her sleeping bag, walking outside.  She closed the cabin door carefully, and came face to face with Tina.

“Morning.” Tina spoke easily, though they each had a twinge of recognition of awkwardness. It as just a twinge. No one would die.

“Morning.” Bette mumbled. “It’s wet.” She reached out to pat a still sleeping Angelica on the back. “All this fresh air is wearing her out.” She smiled.

“Yes…and yes…” Tina shrugged, looking around. “It’s wet. True.” She grinned at Bette and went about her morning routine as best she could. “No hot water.” She grimaced. She shifted Angelica in her arms, searching for a kettle that would swing over the fire she had already built for cooking.

“Honestly…” Bette stopped herself before a need to rant took over.  She gave up, took a deep breath.

“Bette…” Tina tread carefully, watching as emotions traveled in rapid succession across Bette’s features. She guessed that Bette was trying for something, some kind of balance, but was finding it elusive. “Are you annoyed because you couldn’t…”

“no, no, that’s fine. I’m annoyed because I’m annoyed.” Bette said softly. “I don’t know if you want to talk about this with me…I mean…”

“I don’t know if I do either.” Tina agreed though she smiled softly. “I just think…you shouldn’t be so bothered by your own need.” They stood and looked strangely at one another.  It suddenly occurred to Bette that Tina had struggled, even with Henry, to find someone with whom she could truly bond—in all fairness it had been years for Tina, of trying to find that person she could really enjoy the journey with.

    1. OK, so that move to London bit was out of left field and they might have to see if they can buy werewolf repellent if they go. And if we didn’t get much sex out of that, there were quite a few laughs, hard to say which is better in the long run. Loved Kit perturbed by a normal Jenny, which is of course stunning. Liked Tina’s story, too. But as attractive as a move to London might be, I really think Helena needs to face the music over here before she goes.

    2. okay…so what’s up with the moving to london??? hmmm…can’t wait to see how that goes…anyways, i love the bonding the women had with each other even with Jenny’s crazy ass. I can’t wait for the new chapter! Thanks and PPS!

    3. Loved loved loved tina’s story…see this is the tina i like…simple, no craziness, no fickle-ness…good, granola tina…so to london, it is? I say Helena has to get her life together before she takes a leap across the pond.

    4. I am NOT a Tibetter but a LITTLE part of me wanted to see bette with tina in this chapter =O how crazy is that? I mean I LOVE B and H together but I like Tina in your fic  hehe this chapter was great!!! PPS!

    5. I too love the bonding of these core characters (thanks for nothing, IC), and sympathetic Tina as well. I’m guessing normal Jenny is a temporary aberration.
