Just The Girl – Chapter Fifty Four (a HYD-inspired fic)
“Yeah, I guess.” Alice sighed and grabbed a martini from a passing waiter. “But are you sure you want her out of your sight Kennard? She draws people in like moths to a flame. Money, power and good looks. People will be throwing themselves at her over there.”
“I know that.” Tina replied a little angrily. She saw the same thing at Redwind, and she’s no fool to assume that things would be different in Yale. “But can you please stop implying that she’d-”
Alice cut her off with a wave of a hand.
“I’m not trying to offend you or give the wrong idea b-”
“You’re not?” Tina gave her a skeptical look.
Alice sighed, gathering her thoughts again. How can she say this without angering the blonde? She took a sip from her drink, hoping that alcohol would give her the eloquence that she needed. She spoke again, slowly and softly this time. “Tina, believe me, you don’t want Bette out of your sight. And no, I’m not saying this because she might stray and cheat on you with other women.. or men – which I doubt. Truth be told, we both know that she’s way into deep for that to happen. I’m saying this because,” She took a rather long gulp from her drink. “I’m saying this because the possibility that you might lose her is there – it exists. Granted that its a small, teeny tiny chance, but its a chance nonetheless.” She continued, watching as Bette and her friends laughed inside the house. “And if I were you, having even the smallest possibility of losing someone like her is unacceptable. And quite frankly, idiotic. She’s a good person Kennard, and she loves you very much. And you know people like her only come once in a lifetime. We all make sacrifices in life Tina, I get that. But if you lose her because you chose a silly school over her, will you be able to live with yourself afterwards?”
Tina didn’t answer the blonde. Instead, she stared down at her soda. Her fingers creating dents on the can with her tightening grip.
“It’s not too late to change your mind, Kennard.” Alice gently said as she turned around and slid the glass door open. Before stepping foot inside the house, she remembered something. She took out an object from inside her pocket and threw it to Tina. She was supposed to give it to Bette, but what the heck. “Think about it.” She said solemnly before joining the rest of F4.

There is so much that could happen, and you say the End is next…will they remain together or fall apart? I can finally read now that the tears have cleared, thanks for the post!!
god how i love this story, every chapter is like a mini book! i’m not right stoked to read that the next will be the last though, i absolutely love how you write these two…especially bette! my only hope is that you keep them together and that you promise to carry on writing other stories…well????!
What was Tina going to say to Bette on the beach? Will Tina be able to forgive Bette for not saying goodbye? Will Tina catch the next available flight out to Connecticut? I hope so… I can’t wait to see how you wrap everything up, but I’m really going to miss this story. Thanks for the chapter.
Wow that was an amazing chapter! and so many looming questions. PPS
Wow-your story never ceases to amaze me. I love it and your writing, and I hope to see both soon in a sequel to this story! PPS!

WOW!!!!! I just got a chance to read all 37 pages of it-it was a long one…but well worth it. I can understand why Bette went ahead & left-but Tina will be hurt…but I think she will understand. I hope they can work through this & I can’t wait for the next update. Great job.
*Sniffle* Oh dear, this has got to be the saddest JTG chapter. *Sniffle* So begging on my knees didn’t work. *Sniffle* I don’t know how they’ll ever get to eternity when it’s hard to say they’ll even get to survive the next 24 hours, weeks or months apart. *Sniffle* I hope Tina will still change her mind but if not…then, *Thank you very much* for this lovely, funny, sometimes sexy high school TiBette tale. It’s been a great ride, Alchemy! *Crysmiles like Bette* Okay… I’m gonna go to a corner now and cry my heart out. Boohoo. :(
This is sad !
That ws beautiful and sad, it brought tears to my eyes.
I laughed and cried ….. It just broke my heart :( But there has to be a happy ending in here some where :)
Great chptr, Al will there be a sequl to this story maybe College life ???
Hey Alchemy! So glad to have you back with another chapter, but extremely sad that the end is coming. I have loved this story from the beginning as your writing is incredible. I have the feeling Tina had decided to go with Bette, but will maybe stick to their plan now that Bette has left. Bette’s letter had me teary-eyed which is one of the best things about your writing… one minute I’m laughing out loud, the next I’m choked up. Thanks for the post.
Sniff sniff. This was hard, I laughed and cried very hard. How come? Tina go get you future wife please?
