Ever the Same – (Chapter: Ch. 7: Dinner at Spencer’s)

He went into the living, and froze when he saw his sister cuddled on the chair with Ashley. He propped his crutches against the wall and hopped to the sofa, grabbing a throw pillow. He threw it at the chair hitting Ashley in the face, and both girls woke with a start.

"What the hell?!" Ashley glared at Glen.

"Strike one, Davies. Hands off my sister." he warned.

"Go be an ass somewhere else, Glen!" Spencer jumped in.

"What’s going on?" Arthur asked, as he walked into the living room.

"Well, these girls right here–" Glen started, but he was cut off.

"Yeah, they were asleep, Glen." The older male said while shooting a disapproving look at his son. "I walked in about half hour ago to ask them if they wanted a snack."

Glen stood with his mouth ajar, "But–"

"Just drop it, Glen." Arthur sighed.

Glen pursed his lips and shot one last glare at the girls before hopping up the stairs. Arthur let out a deep breath through his nose. He looked at the girls who were staring at him in confusion and winked before walking back into the kitchen.

Ashley’s eyes widened and she whipped her head around, looking at the blonde, "Uh?"

    Spencer merely shrugged.

"Did you…" Ashley lowered her voice, "Did you say anything to him?"

"Not a word," the blonde said, astonished.

    "Okay, then…"

    "Uh, yeah…"

Early evening rolled around, and everyone was seated at the table. Two extra chairs were fitted in seeing as how Ashley and Chelsea were joining the Carlin Clan for dinner.

Ashley had her hands in her lap, so she wouldn’t make the mistake of digging into her food, before grace and end up having to say it, again. One night of embarrassment was enough for her. She was just glad that Spencer wasn’t there to see it.

"Spence, would you mind saying grace?" Paula asked from across the table.

Spencer gave her mom a slightly confused look. Usually the older blonde always said grace, but today she was randomly sticking it on Spencer. Probably something with her thinking I’m going to be thrown into damnation somehow, she thought to herself. She decided not to fight, and just nodded.

"Okay…" everyone around the table joined hands. "Dear Lord, thank you for the food we have here, tonight. Also, for the extra company, so that we can share the experience with them, and continue to live under your good grace. Amen."
