It was early morning. Extremely early, at that. 5:15am. Well, to some it wouldn’t be considered too early, but two certain girls had been pretty much occupied throughout the night, and it’s a miracle that they hadn’t died from suffocation.

But yes, it was early and both Spencer and Ashley were at the beach, walking the shoreline. They had decided to go there just on a whim. They didn’t feel like playing ‘best buds’ and keeping a distance when someone eventually came downstairs, so they just left. Spencer wrote a note to her parents and left it on the counter for them to find. She knew her dad wouldn’t care; however, her mother was always the X factor.

She figured she’d get at least an hour of yelling from Paula. Then her dad would come into the conversation and use his reasoning to bitch-slap his wife back into submission.

Then her mind started reeling with thoughts of her father. He’d acted like he knew something, yesterday, and it totally threw the blonde for a loop. She hadn’t said anything to him. He didn’t know, did he? Nah, there’s no way. He’d find out sooner or later…everyone would. And that fact left Spencer terrified.

“So, I told him that—” Ashley cut herself off when she looked over to see Spencer off on a completely different planet. “Spence? Hellooo, you there?” she waved a hand in front of the blonde’s face.

Spencer’s head jumped back and she blinked, “Huh, wha?”

“I’ll take that as a no,” Ashley chuckled.

The blonde smiled somewhat weakly, “Sorry, I was just thinking.”

“What about?” Curiosity rang in the brunette’s voice.

“Nothing. It’s not important.” Spencer said as she looked forward and stared off into the distance.

Ashley could only see her profile, and the sun had just started to rise, casting small shadows on the blonde’s face. It was safe to say that it was the most beautiful thing the brunette had ever seen. She wished she had a camera. Unable to resist temptation, she leaned over and kissed Spencer lightly on the cheek.

The blonde turned back to face Ashley and tilted her head with a goofy smile, “What was that for?”

“Because you’re so damn cute,” the brunette said playfully.
