“I think we should try,” she said quietly. “Really.”
“Dane,” Alice whispered.
“Not, like, right this second,” Dana said with a laugh. “I just mean before too long, you know?”
“Yeah, I know,” Alice answered. They spent the rest of the afternoon curled up in the metal chairs, not even minding the discomfort.

The next day, Dana volunteered to take Socks to the vet while Alice went to her meeting and the appointment afterward. Alice agreed, since she hadn’t gotten around to doing that yet. That meant that as she was getting ready, Dana was trying her best to get the kitten into the carrier, a task made no easier by the way Socks was fighting her. “We’re getting her declawed, Al,” Dana muttered when Alice walked back to the living room. Her arms were scratched to shreds, and while she knew it wasn’t exactly the kitten’s fault, it wasn’t exactly pleasant either.
“No we’re not. That’s cruel. We should probably get her a scratching post though,” Alice said softly, taking Socks from Dana. She immediately calmed down and allowed Alice to put her into the carrier. Dana watched this and smiled despite her stinging arms.
“And you say you’re not a cat person,” she accused lovingly as she took the carrier from Alice and leaned in for a kiss. “All right, baby, I should get her over there. I’ll probably go to Wax for a little while afterward, Shane’s going to see what she can do with my hair once it gets a little bit longer. She asked if she could style it for the tournament with Billie Jean.”
“Oh, so she’s having you look at magazines and stuff? That’s a good idea. There’s actually a lot you can do with it short. Well, not as short as it is right now, but once it gets a little longer. You’ve got great hair, Dana. I’m sure she’ll figure something out.”
“Yeah, she will,” Dana agreed. “She always has. Anyway, Al, relax. Your meeting will go fine, and so will your appointment. We can go to dinner afterward, okay?”
“That’d be nice,” Alice agreed, but she still looked none too happy about life in general.
“Come here,” Dana said, putting the cat carrier on the hallway floor while Socks mewed in annoyance. Dana didn’t pay any attention to her as she hugged Alice for a few minutes, whispering quiet encouragement as Alice tried to wave her away. Finally, she gave in and sank into Dana’s embrace, letting herself be held. She pulled away reluctantly, knowing that if she stayed in Dana’s arms she’d never leave.

Bravo! I love seeing these two working things out and how much they truly love each other. Plus they get all the support from their best friends. I must say, the whole witnessing someone dying thing has to be the most traumatic experience. You really nailed it in Alice/Tasha conversaton. Your writing is so real. I often can picture the scenes unfold in my head. Thanks again for a wonderful chapter. Will Alice become really successful because of the chart and still drive the mini? Hope so. I am a little apprehensive about Tahsa though. Alice by nature is a caring person. I just hope that her love for Dana will keep her out of trouble. Can’t wait for your next post. btw, it’s water under bridge regarding “on the boards” last night. There is no need for apology. I was not even slightly displeased. Hope today is better for you. Can’t wait for you next post.
As always Muted you make me smile at all of your updates for our Danish. Sorry haven’t posted a comment in a while, but i have read them all and love your writing dearly. It always amazes me how i can see what you write in my mind. it is so much better then the show itself, i might not watch and just read your stuff instead :). ok, i’ll peak, only because of leisha though, keep up with the happy mood:) and the writing!

Once again my Sunday Danish fix, yay! Nice job in getting Tasha into the picture. Actually it’s kinda freakish how well you blend these characters into your story with close to actual storylines/dialogue from the show. I have to say your description of Dana’s eyes toward the end of the chapter just about melted my entire being, thanx!? Seriously, this story makes the actual show look like one big nightmare; I’m with Dana and Alice this has to be the reality…!
Babe you know I heart you and I heart this story, I really liked the was you got Tasha to open up a bit, I’m so loving my version of paws in this. I also loved the NC-17 well you knew I do anyway hehe.
I cannot express the excitement I felt when I saw an update. I haven’t quite had my danish fix besides watching my season 1 and 2 dvds. I’m so estatic about Dana mentioning kids with Alice. Too cute. Hope to see another soon.
