Tasha instantly froze up, and before Alice could offer an apology, she snapped, “And how would you know what it’s like in Iraq?”
“Uh, I uh…watch the news,” Alice said, embarrassed. “Look, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean anything by it.” And suddenly it dawned on her, the reason Tasha might be sitting in this wait room. “Are you in the Army or something?”
“National Guard,” Tasha replied. “You have a problem with that?”
“No, not at all,” Alice said. “I just don’t understand why we’re there, that’s all.” She shut up then because Tasha looked pretty angry, and Alice was more than sure that she couldn’t take her. Nor did she want to try.
“I’m not even going to try to explain it to you. You’re probably one of those knee-jerk liberals like the rest of the people out here, and that’s cool. I was over there fighting for your right to bash the war. But tell me, just so I’m clear…what were you doing while I was over there trying to defend your freedom?” Tasha asked snidely. She knew she was going way over the line, but the impending appointment was stressing her out, and she definitely didn’t need this chick talking down to her.
Alice felt the same way. “First of all, you weren’t defending my freedom. You were invading a sovereign nation, so forgive me for not falling at your feet in gratitude. And just so you know, while you were over there invading, I was watching the love of my life come about a breath away from dying. So don’t use the war to act like you’ve been through so much more serious shit than I have, all right?”
There was complete silence for a minute or two until Tasha sighed and shook her head. “Look, I’m really sorry. That was way out of line, and I didn’t mean to offend you. I just don’t react well to people telling me how morally bankrupt I am. But that doesn’t excuse me going off like that. I know it’s not an excuse, but I’m kinda going through some heavy shit, that’s all.”
“Hey, it’s all right. I shouldn’t have said what I did either, okay? I’m sorry. I don’t agree with the war, but hey, it’s your career. Your choice.”

Bravo! I love seeing these two working things out and how much they truly love each other. Plus they get all the support from their best friends. I must say, the whole witnessing someone dying thing has to be the most traumatic experience. You really nailed it in Alice/Tasha conversaton. Your writing is so real. I often can picture the scenes unfold in my head. Thanks again for a wonderful chapter. Will Alice become really successful because of the chart and still drive the mini? Hope so. I am a little apprehensive about Tahsa though. Alice by nature is a caring person. I just hope that her love for Dana will keep her out of trouble. Can’t wait for your next post. btw, it’s water under bridge regarding “on the boards” last night. There is no need for apology. I was not even slightly displeased. Hope today is better for you. Can’t wait for you next post.
As always Muted you make me smile at all of your updates for our Danish. Sorry haven’t posted a comment in a while, but i have read them all and love your writing dearly. It always amazes me how i can see what you write in my mind. it is so much better then the show itself, i might not watch and just read your stuff instead :). ok, i’ll peak, only because of leisha though, keep up with the happy mood:) and the writing!

Once again my Sunday Danish fix, yay! Nice job in getting Tasha into the picture. Actually it’s kinda freakish how well you blend these characters into your story with close to actual storylines/dialogue from the show. I have to say your description of Dana’s eyes toward the end of the chapter just about melted my entire being, thanx!? Seriously, this story makes the actual show look like one big nightmare; I’m with Dana and Alice this has to be the reality…!
Babe you know I heart you and I heart this story, I really liked the was you got Tasha to open up a bit, I’m so loving my version of paws in this. I also loved the NC-17 well you knew I do anyway hehe.
I cannot express the excitement I felt when I saw an update. I haven’t quite had my danish fix besides watching my season 1 and 2 dvds. I’m so estatic about Dana mentioning kids with Alice. Too cute. Hope to see another soon.
