“Look, I don’t agree with it either,” Tasha said with a wry smile. “I joined the Guard so I could get through college, and I did. Choosing to go active afterwards gave me enough money in bonuses that I didn’t have to take out loans or anything. I didn’t join up to go fight Iraqi’s, it’s just kinda what happened. Gotta honor my commitment and all. That doesn’t mean I agree with everything there, you know?” Alice nodded mutely. “Look, it’s obvious we’re not gonna agree politically, and that’s cool. You’re entitled to your beliefs just like I’m entitled to mine. I’m sorry I said what I did. That girl you were with at the club that night, is that who you meant?”
“Yeah, that’s Dana,” Alice replied.
“She’s looking good now, after what she went through,” Tasha said softly. “Look, that must have been hell, man. I’m really sorry you went through that.”
“Yeah, well, it’s why I’m here. I feel kinda stupid. She’s still here and she’s getting better.”
“That doesn’t mean it didn’t fuck you up to watch it. I know what it’s like to watch somebody die…whether they stay that way or not, it fucks you up. No way around that.” She stopped for a second. “That’s why I’m here, too.” Alice just looked at her silently. Tasha sighed. “I served with this girl, we got to be close friends. Uh, one day we got attacked, and she got shot. I tried to help her, but by then…there was just nothing I could do, you know?” She stopped, shocked that she’d just admitted that to someone who was pretty much a total stranger.
“I know,” Alice whispered in reply. “Do you still dream about it?” she asked. Tasha didn’t respond, so Alice continued. “Dana died on me twice. Her heart stopped the first night they brought her in here, while I was in the room with her. I mean, they brought her back and everything, but…I dunno, I keep fixating on how she looked after she stopped breathing. And you know what’s nuts? I’ve never told anybody that before. Not even her.”
“That’s not nuts, Alice. That’s heavy. I can’t imagine watching some disease take somebody like that. At least with my friend, it was sudden.”

Bravo! I love seeing these two working things out and how much they truly love each other. Plus they get all the support from their best friends. I must say, the whole witnessing someone dying thing has to be the most traumatic experience. You really nailed it in Alice/Tasha conversaton. Your writing is so real. I often can picture the scenes unfold in my head. Thanks again for a wonderful chapter. Will Alice become really successful because of the chart and still drive the mini? Hope so. I am a little apprehensive about Tahsa though. Alice by nature is a caring person. I just hope that her love for Dana will keep her out of trouble. Can’t wait for your next post. btw, it’s water under bridge regarding “on the boards” last night. There is no need for apology. I was not even slightly displeased. Hope today is better for you. Can’t wait for you next post.
As always Muted you make me smile at all of your updates for our Danish. Sorry haven’t posted a comment in a while, but i have read them all and love your writing dearly. It always amazes me how i can see what you write in my mind. it is so much better then the show itself, i might not watch and just read your stuff instead :). ok, i’ll peak, only because of leisha though, keep up with the happy mood:) and the writing!

Once again my Sunday Danish fix, yay! Nice job in getting Tasha into the picture. Actually it’s kinda freakish how well you blend these characters into your story with close to actual storylines/dialogue from the show. I have to say your description of Dana’s eyes toward the end of the chapter just about melted my entire being, thanx!? Seriously, this story makes the actual show look like one big nightmare; I’m with Dana and Alice this has to be the reality…!
Babe you know I heart you and I heart this story, I really liked the was you got Tasha to open up a bit, I’m so loving my version of paws in this. I also loved the NC-17 well you knew I do anyway hehe.
I cannot express the excitement I felt when I saw an update. I haven’t quite had my danish fix besides watching my season 1 and 2 dvds. I’m so estatic about Dana mentioning kids with Alice. Too cute. Hope to see another soon.
