The Greatest Love Story Ever Told

Lizzie was preparing a salad in the kitchen when Helena walked in.

“Hello Lizzie, I didn’t know you were here too”

“Hey Helena, yeah it’s turning out to be quite a party, Dana should be arriving shortly and Shane just called Carmen, Shane’s trying to remove all the pictures of her before she arrives, I don’t think she wants Carmen to see her in her graduation gown, something about not being seen dead in a dress”

    LA 1998

“Is that the phone ringing” Bette asks just as she was about to close the front door.

“Bette, leave it were already going to be late if the traffic is bad” Tina replies which falls on deaf ears as Bette hurries back into the house. “Bette” she calls after her exasperated, it was most probably just one of their friends checking for the umpteenth time when and were they were meeting.

Today was a day there were times that Tina thought would never happen, Shane’s graduation. The path had certainly been littered with more than a few bumps, add a pinch of perseverance, a dash or two of tough love, a few spoonfuls of sleepless nights and Shane was a step closer to fulfilling her dream of becoming a doctor.

Tina waited impatiently in the car for Bette, her annoyance rising with each passing minute, after beeping the horn failed to procure the desired result Tina stormed back into the house fully intent on kicking some ass and Bette’s would fill that role.

Bette was replacing the phone in it’s cradle in a daze when Tina barged through the house. “Bette….what the fuck….” The blonde stopped mid sentence as she registered the expression of shock on Bette’s face “Baby, what’s wrong” she asked taking Bette’s hands in hers.

Bette with tears threatening to fall could only manage “It’s daddy”

Tina gasped “Oh god, he’s not….” she manoeuvred Bette towards the sofa and they both sat down.

Bette shook her head slowly “Not yet, but it’s only a matter of days, Tee he’s been ill for months and he didn’t tell me, can you believe that”

Tina could believe that but didn’t verbalize those thoughts, now was not the time to be

    1. Skimmy, I’m not sure I can let go of FLF… I’m sorry. If it makes you feel better, it was never about your legs. Maybe Bette’s? ;) And yay! Helena is back! The way T and Al treat just makes me laugh too freaking much. I’m glad it came out that they both know the risks of the surgery. And as the big geek that I am, I have to say that yeah, Tina wouldn’t forget her love for Bette. Love appears to be located in a different area of the brain than memory :) Sorry for geeking out on you comments, Skimmy!

    2. Skimmy, I have to confess; when I got to the “Promise” word I was a little lost, I had to go back & found I have missed several chapters. I have spent my night reading your story. First let me say sorry about your great loss over the summer. Also hope your sons arm is on the mend. As far as your guys having a normal mom, forget about it, I have 4 kids and none of them have a normal mom, don’t worry about that it helps them build character. I have laughed so hard tonight reading chapter after chapter, you are effing hilarious. That is until I got to this one. Holy sheets woman wasn’t growing up with Melvin enough? What a rat bastard, I think if I were Tina I would go to the grave and piss all over it. Oh the part about the cake was killing me. Can’t wait for more. Thank you, Md aka Oma Oh ya, and if you would have locked the card door, well you know. Thanks again.

    3. You are and always will be ” the Skimminator”! WHat an amazing story this is…thank you so much for taking the time to post here. The menopause cake had me in stitches…LMAOOOO!

    4. Wow Skimmy…that was awesome! That would be quite the thing…finding out your existence wasn’t what you thought it was after all those years. Bette has a lot to sort out and I’m glad Tina is right there with her all the way. This story is getting more intriguing all the time!

    5. Hiya Skimmy! Thanks for the PM hun. I’m ** slowly ** coming along. The chapter rocked. I absolutely loved when Bette said this to Tina: “My love for you is something my heart could never forget, they could wipe my memories clean, dump me in the far corner of the earth and my heart would lead me back home, of that I have no doubt” * Awwww – my heart was melting at that. * Thanks for posting an update! {{ hugs }} ttys.

    6. Oh man, what a mess. Melvin sure was a secretive bastard, wasn’t he? Bette’s really his granddaughter? At least it would explain why he had the mentality of a crusty old man. I hope Bette can find Catherine. Tina’s been a rock, in the past as well as now. No hurdle too big for these guys. I know they’ll be fine. Awesome, skimmer. Thanks :)

    7. What a heck of a chapter. Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to deceive. Melvin, the lying old bastard and I can’t blame Tina at all, I, too, would choke the life out of him. This is really terrible for Bette and thank goodness she has Tina and her love to see her thru. This news is just heartbreaking, Melvin should have been ashamed of himself. He died with a very guilty conscience and now he and the devil can make chili powder and matches together. One bright spot in this chapter is when Tina told Bette that, “My love for you is something my heart could never forget, they could wipe my memories clean, dump me in the far corner of the earth and my heart would lead me back home, of that I have no doubt.” How beautiful is that and we all wish for someone to love us like that. That is awesome. Thanks for posting. PPVS
