    See What a Fool I’ve Been – part 5 and 6

I know the reason why she’s so touched, so emotionally affected. A little part of her was sure that Carmen wouldn’t show up. That Carmen would leave her there alone, in front of the judge and of her own conscience. Thinking about the meaning of the word “abandoned”.
This is the reason why Shane is almost crying. Shane feels relief, love and a joyful disbelief, all in once, about the fact Carmen is here, that Carmen loves her and really wants to be with her.
” Show me what it’s like / To be the last one standing / And teach me wrong from right / And I’ll show you what I can be”

    There.
She’s reaching the altar and Shane grabs her hand and kisses it.
They both turn towards the judge, who’s smiling satisfied.
“Can we start?” she asks, sweetly.
    Shane and Carmen nod simultaneously.
” Say it for me / Say it to me / And I’ll leave this life behind me / Say it if it’s worth saving me”

“We are here tonight to celebrate the very special wedding of this wonderful couple”.
Carmen looks at Shane with so much love in her eyes that words are not enough.
” Heaven’s gates won’t open up for me / With these broken wings I’m fallin’ / And all I see is you”

“…Marriage means sharing everything life gives us, both good and bad. Marriage means love, respect, commitment, dedication, affection, trust…”
Shane entwines her fingers with Carmen’s and sighs silently.
” These city walls ain’t got no love for me / I’m on the ledge of the eighteenth story / And oh I scream for you”

“Shane and Carmen, you are here, in front of me – a judge – and all of your friends to express what you feel for each other and to create a bond that I hope will last forever…”
A single tear rolls over Shane’s cheek. Carmen dries it up with her thumb and smiles. Painfully. Lovingly.
” Come please I’m callin’ / And all I need from you / Hurry I’m fallin’, I’m fallin’”

“Shane McCutcheon, do you want to take Carmen Morales as your wife, to love and respect her until the end of your life?”
    Carmen closes her eyes.
    “I do”. Shane’s voice.
    Low.
    Deep.
    Sincere.
    ” Hurry, I’m fallin’…”
