    Chapter 28, Part 2: Ladies, get in line (Bette and Tina visit the CAC and we meet a few new faces)

     

    Bette was just standing in the middle of the office as an innocent bystander who wasn’t really interested in this story but inside she was fuming with passion and pain. ‘I hope with time I will be able to put my thoughts about Christina to rest, I don’t want this pain to affect my wonderful relationship with Tina,’ Bette thought, looking back at Tina and smiling weakly.

     

    Tina heard a soft cough at the front door and turned around to find Alice standing there with a happy smile on her face.

     

    “Mr. Franklin, this is Alice Pieszecki, she works for ‘LA Magazine’ and might do a story on the new exhibit,” Tina introduced Alice, giving her a chance to confirm the excuse for her to be there.

     

    “Oh, yes,’ Alice said as on cue, “I begged my editor to let me do the cover story. This would put your wonderful museum on the map of the art world.”

     

    “Wonderful, ladies,” Franklin said excitedly, “So what can I help you with?”

     

    Tina thought for a second and then said, “Well, I didn’t mention it but Bette is actually an artist and since she will be living in LA permanently, I was wondering if she could get a job at the museum? I know it’s sudden and a lot to ask but she’s new here and this place was the only one that came to mind,” Tina finished shyly and again looked intensely at Bette who didn’t change her position but her face reflected excitement and fear.

     

    The professor gave Bette another appreciative look and smiled, thinking that even though it was out of the ordinary to hire somebody without credentials, the mere presence of Ms. Porter in the gallery will draw in customers, not to mention that he would see her every day.

     

    “What a coincidence…today is Mrs. Simpson’s last day at work,” Franklin said finally, looking at his assistant, a frail 70-year old lady who was wearing huge turtle-like glasses and spoke with a very loud high-pitched voice and constantly blew her nose with questionably clean handkerchiefs. “She has been the most wonderful assistant all these years and it pains me to see her go but c’est la vie,” Franklin finished and it was clear to everybody that he couldn’t wait to get rid of her.

    1. Whoa…I missed this last night. I went to bed before you posted, but it was a triffic surprise when I got home from work tonight! So, Bette is going to work…will Tina get her a Social Security Number? You little devil…throwing in Candace. Super update and you know what B&TF, if people aren’t reading this story, it is their loss, because it is a great story. It’s haunting like the movie Somewhere in Time.

And again, I’m really sorry if I haven’t commented on the last few chapters, but I’ve been ourt of town for a couple of weeks and then my internet connection has been down for almost a week… So anyways, let’s just say I’ve only started catching up on my fan fiction reading yesterday. And usual, no matter how many chapters I read in a row, I confess I always want more of this story !! This is how talented you are B&TF !

    4. Maybe Helena and Candace can hook up and leave Bette and Tina alone. Alice is right, both Bette and Tina are hot and anybody in their right mind would find one or both extremely sizzling.

    5. Uh, B$TF [whispering] The last chapter got 4 comments. So 4 is magical,too. Besides, Jennfer Beals luvs you. Nothing else matters !!!! You’ve complicated the plot with Candace and Helena. I guess The Twink and Nadia wouldn’t quite fit the romance. Anyway, I can’t wait for the magical 3 next chapter.
