Out of Closet (B&T time-travel romance), Ch. 12

Instead, she smiled at Tina warmly and said, “Well, the lunch is over and I can see that you are anxious to discuss your documentary. Would you like to go to my house? If you need to use some authentic materials, I have something that might interest you.”

She winked at Tina again and they both smiled at each other. Tina was relieved that some of her tension and anxiety were gone and Kit turned out to be very easy-going and absolutely the nicest person Tina had met since moving to LA, not counting her friends.

Kit gave her the address and the directions to her town home, which wasn’t far from the Planet and they were on their way. When Tina pulled in the driveway behind Kit’s car she sensed an unfamiliar feeling of comfort, as if inside of this house was the key to all her worries and questions and doubts.

They went inside and Kit asked if Tina wanted anything to drink. “Iced Tea would be nice,” Tina said absentmindedly, looking around and surprised to see the interior of Kit’s house. It was simple yet filled with elegance. The only thing this house was lacking, in Tina’s opinion, was the family photos. She only had two pictures on the mantel of the fireplace, one of Kit holding a newborn baby in her arms, and another picture of Kit and a young man in his early twenties.

Tina was about to ask Kit about the pictures when her eyes fell on a few paintings hanging on a wall. There were only three and the one in the middle immediately caught Tina’s attention. The photograph in ‘The History of Orange County’ that Franklin showed to her at the gallery didn’t do justice to the painting.

The original was absolutely breathtaking. Tina stood there in awe, tears falling down freely now as she stared at the beauty in front of her. She was oblivious to anything, captivated by the painting, and she didn’t notice that Kit had come back into the room with the drinks and was now standing in a doorway, trying to absorb what was unraveling before her eyes.

“Tina…Tina,” Kit called softly, not wanting to startle the young woman. Finally Tina heard her and snapped out of her trance, turning around and looking at Kit with blank stare for several seconds. She blinked couple of times and finally saw Kit stretching her hand and offering Tina a tissue. Tina grabbed it and began wiping her tears.

    1. Hey there! Sorry about missing a comment on the last chapter. I must confess that with Christmas and going away to my family, my return was a bit overbusy. But I read it of course, and thanks so much for posting so soon again. I’m really hooked to this story, and I must admit, intrigued as well. I’m of course looking forward to their meeting, but I’m also curious about the murder mystery, and Christina whereabouts after that… Anyway, I’ll be patient until you take us there! Happy New Year to you, mate. And PPS! K ;)

    2. You are really building the intrigue for this story. You know what they say B&TF…some things are better the second time around! I never saw this the first time, but I’m sure enjoying it now. I can’t wait for the next update!

    3. Whether the story is edited or not, it is still one of my all time favorites. Reading it again is such a wonderful treat, and puts a smile on my face every time. Thank you S. And remember, even if you don’t see a lot of comments, we are still reading…silently, but still reading! Happy New Year!

    4. New Year’s Resolution–leave comments. I hang my head in shame at my past behavior. I have so much fun reading your chapters. I had read and loved the story during its first appearance, but I so enjoy being reminded of the details and intricacies of the plot. Your interweaving of the past and future story lines is intriguing. The portrayal of Elizabeth’s slow understanding of her feelings about Christina and the consequences of those feelings is heartbreaking, since you have already hinted of the tragedy to follow. I will be reading every chapter. If I slip up with my brand new resolution, you have my permission to rap my knuckles. Repeatedly.

    5. It’s so nice to see a post from you, amazing story you have got there, and it keep us excited and so looking forward for the new one. Thank you so much. Love

    6. How did the Porter name come to the forefront a gain? Somehow Melvin Porter must have been related to the Porters of the past. Can’t wait for the meeting of the now Bette and Tina.

    7. Oh, wait ! I read your last chapter as well, but due to my little Christmas holiday out of town I only read it yesterday and didn’t take time to post a comment since you had already posted an update ( this chapter ) and I’ve only just caught up with everything now. Anyway, let me please apologize for not commenting, I really do love this story. Seriously. This is not only beautiful, but also very thrilling and I love it. HAPPY NEW YEAR B&TF and PPS !
