Masked Feelings CH 98 Questionable Tension

There was a quick knock on the door and then Erika came in.

Erika – Did you enjoy your walk?

    Roxy – It was ok.

Erika – My brother has taken real interest in you. I think he’s very interested, in fact.

Roxy – What is that supposed to mean?

Erika – You can’t be that blind… don’t you see it when someone is interested in you.

Roxy – I’m sure you have the wrong idea. He just wants to pull that analyst shit on me since I’m poor white trash with a dead mother and a father who doesn’t know I exist.

Erika – That’s enough shit from you. You really have such a high opinion of yourself. Don’t drag Adam into this, he’s got no motive. If he was inquiring about your past, it’s because he genuinely likes you and maybe.. just maybe.. he wants to help you.

For the first time, Roxy had the wind taken out of her sails. She was speechless, as was Erika after blasting her. What the hell had just happened? Was she responsible for Erika’s entire bad mood? It seemed as if she brought out the worst in her. Erika grabbed a towel from the dresser, walked into the adjoining bathroom and shut the door behind her. Roxy lay on the bed with a blank expression on her face, but was really hurting on the inside. What the hell was happening to her now?_______________________________________________________________________

Marco sat by Kristen’s bedside, reading from a book that his mother gave him. It was a collection of poems by various authors and one of her personal favorites. This was something he never did in his life and yet it felt like the most natural thing in the world. Rosalie stood on the other side of the door, listening to her son read. He had a very soothing and deep tone to his voice. If anything was going to reach this woman, this was it. He really was the most sensitive of the Gambino men, much like her husband used to be in the very beginning.

He glanced up from the book, watching his mother watch him.

Marco – You can come in, you know.

    Rosalie – I don’t want to intrude.

    1. So glad to see you back, brteyes!! How bad do I suck? I can’t believe I missed out on commenting on a post from you. My sincere apologies… Goose needs to be better at checking the site more often. That chapter was great as was this one. I don’t think you have missed a beat with your absence. I loved both updates. I think you are actually improving — the story lines are all advancing nicely. I love the “calm before the storm” moments with Dana and Alice. The mirror thing and the crash at the end are mighty creepy, though. I really find myself intrigued with the Roxy back story. It might be my favorite storyline at the moment. The stuff with Marco is also interesting — the way you are twining his desires with those of his family. It really is so great to get more of this story. I plan to keep reading as long as you keep posting. Thanks!!
