Masked Feelings CH 98 Questionable Tension

    Alice – What?! We’re moving?!

    Dana – Unfortunately…

Alice jumped to her feet. There was no way she was letting a colleague see her like this, especially being this was a job she wanted to keep. She skidded on the loose shreds and fell across to the control panel. It was all she could do to press the emergency stop button, but it didn’t do anything. They rolled and continued on, but could be stopping on any floor. There clothes were scattered and mostly under the shreds. In a panic, Alice came back to the pile and quickly searched for her clothes.

Dana – Quick… grab my bag before we stop.

She took the duffle bag by the handle and pulled it into the pile with them. The elevator came to a stop. Dana reached and firmly grasped Alice’s wrist, pulling her to the back wall, covering them both from head to toe with the paper shreds. Dana whispered, "Don’t move." With any luck, Alice heard. Hopefully, they would both be able to remain still and maybe not suffocate in the process. Thankfully, there was plenty of paper to cover there asses and all the other parts exposed… or so they both hoped.

This was definitely an intimidating experience. Roxy found herself sitting at the dinner table with the picture perfect family, all white collar workers, of course. Her father, Robert was a tax lawyer working with major corporations. Her mother, Elizabeth was a real estate broker. And let’s not forget her brother, Adam he was a child psychologist who specialized in abuse cases. Of all of them, Adam was reason enough to be nervous with one exception. Of course, Erika made her the most nervous, but in spite of that fact; she didn’t want to be alone with any of them.
Adam would look at her, almost examining her. She was beginning to think there was some food on her face, but if there was nobody was divulging it. They were all very nice to her, but it left her on edge. When the topic would turn to her life, it made her feel very uncomfortable. They inquired about her family and that was one subject that was better left buried. She thought about telling them a nice story, but her gut told her not to do it. Roxy gave the short version that made everyone not feeling comfortable asking more. This version was where her mother died and she didn’t know her father.

    1. So glad to see you back, brteyes!! How bad do I suck? I can’t believe I missed out on commenting on a post from you. My sincere apologies… Goose needs to be better at checking the site more often. That chapter was great as was this one. I don’t think you have missed a beat with your absence. I loved both updates. I think you are actually improving — the story lines are all advancing nicely. I love the “calm before the storm” moments with Dana and Alice. The mirror thing and the crash at the end are mighty creepy, though. I really find myself intrigued with the Roxy back story. It might be my favorite storyline at the moment. The stuff with Marco is also interesting — the way you are twining his desires with those of his family. It really is so great to get more of this story. I plan to keep reading as long as you keep posting. Thanks!!
