Just The Girl – Chapter Thirty Five (a HYD-inspired fic)
———————————————-
“Christ.” Bette huffed as they exited the ride. Her sneakers made squishing sounds as she walked, her white sleeveless top (which got a little see-through for her own taste) clinging to her every curve. They just had to ride a water ride first, she grimaced as she ran a hand through her wet hair. Sitting at the front of the little boat beside Tina, the two of them absorbed almost all of the wet punishment that the ride had to offer. She eyed a relatively dry Jenny and Max through the corner of her eyes and frowned. Thank God that asshole didn’t get wet, she thought sarcastically, or else he might multiply in number just like those fucking gremlins.
“That was so fun!” Tina happily exclaimed as she swung Bette’s hand back and forth. “Let’s ride it again!” She grinned from ear to ear as she bounced on the balls of her feet.
“No!” Bette answered violently. One shower was enough.
“Please, babe.” Tina begged as she stood in front of a cranky Bette. “Please?” She smiled and placed a quick peck on her girlfriend’s lips for good measure.
“Fine.” Bette relented upon seeing the happiness radiating from Tina. How could she say no to that face? She sighed and shook her head in resignation. “Just one last time, okay?” She followed up as Tina began pulling her back towards the line once again.
“Okay.” Tina giggled excitedly. “You guys coming?” She turned her head and asked Jenny and Max.
“Nope.” Jenny shook her head and smiled. “We’ll wait for you guys by the souvenir shop over there.” She pointed to a small store a few feet away.
“Yeah,” Max seconded. “We’ll stay right here Tina. Your girlfriend on the other hand,” He motioned to Bette with a slight nod. “She looks like she needs another shower. You know, to wash away the perma-frown on her face.” He laughed as he began to drag an apologetic Jenny away.
“What the fuck?” Bette shook her head in disbelief as she stared at the retreating form of Max. What the hell was wrong with that guy? She thought in irritation. She could feel her patience running thin. There was only so much that counting and breathing exercises could do to prevent her from feeding that asshole to the sharks inside this stupid park.

Strike one up for Bette. She is standing up to her father and showing Tina the depth of her feelings at the same time. After growing up with unlimited riches, I think it would be extraordinarily difficult to be left penniless. I hope Bette returns after reading Tina’s letter. Great story!
I’m usually the one sitting or standing in the wrong place, I can relate. Got drenched at Disneyland 3 times in 1 day…
Tina’s dad is funny. Poor Bette and Tina but hope they will fight to be together.
I have been gone all day & am just know getting achance to catch up on my Fav. Fic. This was another awesome update…makes me want to go to Sea World minus the breaking up part. I hope they work things out-w/ a little help from Alice & Shane. I have just 1 request…please no more Max.
First of all LMAO at Daddy Kennard being heartbroken about getting a promotion. Then what the hell is Tina thinking throwing things out there without explaining first…we all know Bette reacts at the first word and doesn’t listen. However, Bette better start listening if she doesn’t want to become just like Melvin…alone and bitter.
first?????? youpiiiiiiiiiiiken is so funny? How did he work out promotion = fired?PMSLNow it s time for he F4 to show their support to their leader, help Bette fae and beat her father on that challenge. Great chapter, very funny with Tina’s dad but sad that Tina and Bette fought. They need each other right now to be strong against Melvin.PPS
