“I’m not talking in circles,” I said as I checked to see if my coffee had cooled down a little. “I just had some things to think about and work through.”
“Ok…you’re probably going to hate me but I‘m going to ask anyway.” She waited to see what my response to her statement was going to be.
“I’m not going to hate you. You know you can say anything to me.”
“Was clearing your head because of Bette Porter?”
“What?” I asked probably louder than I needed to or meant to.
“Don’t act all huffy with me. That’s a totally and completely legitimate question.”
“Shane, please.”
“Look…if she’s the patient you’re all hot and bothered about, that’s cool. She met Alice for brunch yesterday and we hung out. I went over last night and she threw some steaks on the grill. If it’s any consolation for you, she’s miserable too.” Shane saw her both at brunch and dinner.
“Shane, I can’t talk about it.”
“Ok…here let me talk then. Bette’s a cop who got shot. She probably has to have therapy because of that. You’re the department therapist. Bette’s a beautiful woman that it would be hard not to fall for. Tina, Bette is someone who doesn’t do relationships. She might not be the one for you. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t know her well and liked her from what I could see but she is known in the community for not getting tied down.”
I had to take a sip of my coffee, although it was still too hot to buy me some time before responding to her. “Shane thanks for the info. If I need it, I now have it. How did you end up over there for dinner?” Did I really want to hear this?
“As she was leaving brunch, Alice said something about swinging by later and she invited us over for dinner. You were invited too but you weren’t answering your phone.”
I could feel my face getting hot. At least it may not be too obvious. “Sorry I missed it but the beach was calling my name. Working on anything interesting?” I could tell by the look she gave me that she didn’t buy it that I cared rather I was trying to change the subject. It being Shane, she went with it and told me about her call from Halle Berry. We spent the next hour or so talking before I realized that I needed to go in order to make my first appointment on time. I ruffled her hair as I got up and thanked her for being her. She smiled that knowing smile and told me not to disappear again and to call if I needed her. I was lucky that she was as laid back as she is and just went with the flow.

I like that Tina and Shane are friends it’a great twist to how they all become framily. Weli, we are set up for the conversation and I’m ready to hear it as soon as you are ready to post it. And I will try to be patient.
Love it. Tina is always obsessed by Bette’s behind. Don’t see the reason myself. Anyway, great chapter and the time is upon us to hear their talk and I can hardly wait for it.Pleasepost as soon as possible.

i also like the friendships that are forming… and its funny how both tina and shane know alice has a big mouth… and now the time has come for bette appointment… i thnk when bette leaves and they say goodbye… bette should pull tina in for a KISS… and to be continued when they both can continue their love story… loving this… PPS

Gosh, I’d all but forgotten about Jiffy Pop. I’m trying to decide whether Shane’s motives for warning Tina about Bette were altruistic or a little self serving due to how she feels about Tina. I love their friendship however…each of them have a close friend to rely on. You’re the best NAG…wonderful update…awaiting the next!

Yes in most if not all stories Alice continues with the big mouth. LOL I do like the Shane/Tina friendship. Looking forward to Bette reaction to “future possibilities” with Tina.

I was blown away by Shane’s sense of intuition. She nailed the problem – no wonder Tina avoided her most of the weekend. Although the information was less than positive about Bette, Tina is intelligent and will not allow her emotions to rule. Love the way you are handling the dialogue – it is really moving. Well, I’m on the same page as Tina. I have to say that the Melvin-on-the-phone scene with JB’s white-stripey-pj-clad ass was a highlight of the series for me. Now, let’s get Bette moved on with Steve, and get the Bette & Tina show on the road!
So Tina is really struggling with this thing with Bette. Shane is so wrong about Bette not doing relationships. She did not do them until this one therapist entered her life. I have a feeling that Bette is willing to settle down once she and Tina are able to go out together.
