Perfect Strangers, Perfect Match – (Chapter: Ch1-7 repost)

Well here goes nothing “well 1 I won for best new artist, best female artist, record of the year 3 times and the moon man is for best female video” I said watching her closely as she processed the information.

“Your…your…a musician? Like in a band or something?” she asked.

All I could do was nod my head.

Not really talking to me, more like she was putting a puzzle together “so that explains the sending a car to get me, you always hidden under clothes, hats and sunglasses and why we have never gone anywhere in public well at least with out you covered head to toe and always looking around” she said then looked over at me “what band are you in?”

“I’m not in a band. Well not really. I mean I have a band that has been with me for a couple years.”

“Who are you?” she asked sounding like she didn’t have a clue who I was.

I started slowly keeping the defensiveness out of my voice “I am the same person you’ve known and spent time with. I just happen to be a music artist. The person you know IS who I am. The person that gets up on stage, or in a music video, or who gives interviews to magazines, TV shows or radio stations is the image of what the public thinks I am. Most of what they report or write is not even close to being the truth.”

“But who are you?” she said again looking to my eyes like she’s searching for something.

“I am Ashley Davies. I’m sitting in front of you hoping you don’t get up and run out the door. The same person who cares about you and who looks forward to seeing you and hoping each time I can make you smile. The same person who gets nervous when you are close to me or when you touch me. The same person wants to know what you were like when you were a little girl, who hurt you so much that you have walls built so tall around you. Why I see fear in the depths of your eyes. Wants to hold you tight and let you know it’s all going to be ok and be the one to make you smile each and every day. You are the last thing I think about at night before I fall asleep and the first thing I think about when I wake up” I told her, I told her everything I have been thinking.
