Perfect Strangers, Perfect Match – (Chapter: Ch1-7 repost)

Her eyes met mine “I…I…uh…you were taking for ever…” and she giggled before continuing.

“I thought I would just see if you were ok…” she said quickly looking away and bushing.

“Do you like what you see?” I asked purposefully leaving it open for double meaning.

“Y…yes…I mean…looks like you’ve got every thing under control” she said turning even redder then she already is.

Hiding the smile trying to form on my face at the display of shyness or vulnerability in front of me I walk up to her and grab her hand in mine. I walk us out to the balcony.

“It’s beautiful out tonight” I said then turned to look directly at her. I lifted her chin so she’d look at me “don’t you think?”

“Absolutely beautiful” she whispered and her eyes darkened.

I knew what it means when her eyes get dark like that but I wasn’t going to give into her yet. I wanted some answers or clarification. I want to know that there is a ‘We’. I forced myself to look away from her. I focused my eyes on the dark horizon, listening to the waves. We stood in silence for a while. I was waiting to see if she was going to say anything. When she didn’t I just walked back into my room and turned the TV on.

She wondered back into the room a few minutes later. I could feel her eyes on me but I refuse to look. I wanted to see if she’d come to me. She stood leaning up against the door frame still not saying a word. She slowly made her way to the other side of the bed.

“You want some company?” pointing to the empty spot beside me.

“Sure, make your self comfortable” I said, still not making eye contact with her.

She climbed on the bed next to me and laced her hand in mine.

We lay there in silence not really watching the TV and still not talking. She started to caress my hand with her thumb. I just lay there on my back eyes on the TV not comprehending what is on. She rolled on her side facing me with her head propped up on her hand.
