Broken – (Chapter: 1)
“You broke my heart”
Still echoes in her ears like the sound of wheels screeching on the road seconds before the crash. She still heard the thunderous scream filled with pain and anger. She still sees her face as plain as day, her tear soaked cheeks, her chin quivering. She tried to reach out to her, to comfort her, wishing she wasn’t the cause of this.
“Get out…get the fuck out now” she ordered and that was the last time she saw her.
She spent several months after that trying anything she could to make it up to her, to apologize to prove to her that she was sorry. She sent flowers only to find out they were denied delivery. The letters, emails, and voice mails all went unanswered and after a couple months the number was changed.
She swore she’d never give up trying to reach out to her to make things better but the days grew to months and the months grew to years and life goes on. Though not a day would go by that she wouldn’t think of her and their good times, she sometimes could hear her laugh. If she closed her eyes long enough she would still see the sparkle her eyes held after they made love. Every now and then her nose would fill with her unique scent causing her heart to race. She stopped long ago looking around hoping beyond hope she’d see that face she longed to trace her fingers on, plant light kisses on, the face of the woman she fell in love with, the one she is still in love with and probably always will. Because no one could ever make her feel the way she felt when she would lay in her lover’s arms. The soft caresses and entangled bodies, the way she smelled, it was intoxicating to her.
Like always, when she takes that stroll down memory lane she is filled with hope, but then is brought back full circle to reality. Remembering those times and dreams always end the same way, haunted by the words and anger filled with pain in her voice, what hurt most of all was the look in her eyes. She had always been able to read her eyes. She would say one thing but her eyes always told the truth. Once filled with happiness, love, tenderness when they’d look at her but that last day she looked into those eyes they were filled with hate, disgust and disbelief.
