“I don’t know Helena. It still seems wrong. If Alice isn’t happy, why is she in the relationship? She doesn’t sound like the kind to do something out of obligation. Besides, how do you know that Bette would fall for it? I thought most lesbians had a very good, what is it called, gaydar?”
“Alice just needs to be shown the light. As for Bette, I’ll let you be the judge of that given whatever interaction you have had with her thus far,” Helena asserted with some finality in her voice.
“And just in case you change your mind, I will leave the profiles of the doctors and their latest research with you. Take all the time you need.”
Tina took a look at the profiles and related research. She took her time. And finally, she acquiesced.
Was she a bad judge? Tina did not know. All she knew was that her deal with Helena was paved with good intentions. But the road to hell is often paved with good intentions too.

I think I’ll sen’ these doctor bills, Airmail special (to Whitey on the moon)
James frowned at the CD playing in the CD changer on the Alfa Romeo Brera and glanced sideways to see Bette grinning like an idiot.
“Uh, if you want I can change that.”
“No, I gave this CD to Tina. It’s a collection of spoken word poems by Gil Scott Heron. I didn’t think she would listen to anything but those mushy old love songs that get on my nerves.”
James smiled. Bette was as blunt as Tina had told him.
“Of course, she would listen to anything you give her – she’s completely in love with you.”
“She told you?!” She gasped, shocked that Tina had chosen to tell someone about her feelings but at the same time, secretly pleased and relieved. It meant her love was genuine—not that Bette doubted it but the constant reminder of the most beautiful thing to ever happen to her was most welcome.

ha ha Mav 2 things #1 gay-jacket OMG kill me….. #2 I totally agree with your statement at the beginning of your story… Good for you. Sometimes following your heart leads us into trouble but it sure doesn’t stop us going there. Right or wrong is a hard one I always say….. great post!!
Oh and by the way… Great author’s note! People are free to like or dislike a story, and yes, sometimes people can be disappointed with a twist or the direction that the story takes, but you know what?… THEIR problem, not yours! When an author takes us on a journey, they decide of the itinerary. If whoever is not happy is free to get off the car!…
I always love how authors use James in their stories, and I just adore him in yours… Well done! Now, it seems that Tina knows everything there is to know about Helena’s scheme… The question is, is she gonna succeed in unveiling her evil streak? I can’t help but think that even so (and I hope she will), there are still a lot of obstacles for our girls to overcome before they can find their way to each other… If they ever… But I trust the vines… Oh shiut, wrong story! ;) K
I must learn not to read new chapters from you before I head off to work. They tend to stick with me all day and I have to fight the urge to re-read them numerous times to savor all the drama/intrigue/love/hate/mystery. Where’s Bette going? I hope it’s not chez Peabody. I know Tina wants more proof, but if she can’t get it, will she cease and desist whatever she’s going and tell Bette all of what’s going on? And what’s the “inevitable” you’re referring to? I’m really, really hoping there isn’t some horrid, horrid thing about to happen. Please post soon, I’ve got too many questions, not enough answers…. This chapter is so well written and very close to the end. I have missed them together in your beautiful story, the closeness they share, and the easiness they spend their time together with. It’s so heart warming and perfect, you are as you said you were M, you write the two of them so well, and I think the reason is, you think and feel love when you write them, it comes from the heart and there is no better place to write anything from. You know, the chapter that I don’t see them sharing each other’s company in is cold one, cause there is no one in this story other than them that has the love and sensitivity that they have, even though they are the ones who are growing close to having another involvement outside of their marriage (which I don’t think will happen till they let the other people in this equation know of their intentions). I hope we can see them resolve whatever they have between them in the next chapter and spend a moment if not some time sharing their love and clearing the air. Gay jacket, that’s a good one. So James is the bartender, what the heck did he put in her drinks. Serves her right. Hope Tina finds what she is looking for, and hope Hel does not wake up and catch her snooping. Great update to this story and I still love it. If someone does not particularly like a story, they have the option not to read it. Keep writing, we love it. Can hardly wait for the next chapter. PPS

OK, so now that I’ve read all the comments above, what else is left to say ?… I too love your fabulous writing and I love this story. It’s both enchanting and riveting. And of course I’m with everybody who encouraged you to post as soon as you can. This is just too addictive. Can’t wait for more. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us, Mav’ ( if you don’t mind me calling you so ). And if I may be so bold as to give you some advice, just ignore the comments you don’t appreciate.
