She definitely would not let Bette get away with thinking that she had all the answers. She would not take advice from Bette Porter on life and relationships given the little insight she had gotten earlier on exactly how Bette Porter behaved in her environment and around her loved ones. No, Tina resolved then and there to put Bette Porter in her place.
– Chapter 6
Who could have imagined back then that Tina would be here, snooping around at midnight in the Peabody Mansion to compile evidence against Helena, to undo whatever damage she had done during her brief lapse of judgment?
No one knew the life she had lived these past 4 months.
She thought back to the unfortunate day at the Infertility Center of the Robert and Peggy Peabody Ob-Gyn Clinic when her ex-employer and friend, Helena Peabody, had tried to emotionally blackmail her into making the worst decision of her life.
“So you know Bette Porter?”
“Yes, we have met a couple times—Are you telling me that her Alice, is THE Alice, as in your Alice? The one you cannot get over. Helena, she is married!”
“That does not stop me from wanting her. It makes her all the more desirable, no Tina? The forbidden fruit theory. You should try it.”
“Try what? There is nothing that I desire that is off-limits.”
“What about a baby?”
Tina narrowed her eyes. “That’s what we have been doing for the past 2 years?”
“I need your help for getting through to Alice. Pretend to have an affair with Bette. In exchange, I’ll have my best team of doctors fly in from London to work on your case—a team with a 100% success rate.”
“WHAT? Helena I’m straight—I know nothing about how to flirt with women, let alone have affairs. And Bette? I cannot tolerate her; she’s the reason I am in this marriage and maybe even in this situation!” Tina was horrified at the suggestion. “Besides that’s just plain wrong.”
“What’s wrong is the way Bette treats Alice. What’s wrong is the way she leeches off her successful wife. She doesn’t love her Tina. No woman deserves this. I cannot see Alice torn up like this, with that sad and empty look in her eyes. In all the years I have known her, the light in her eyes has only grown dimmer, her happiness diminished. Please help me save her, as a favor if you don’t want anything in exchange. Play this as a test for Bette—you don’t even need to do anything but spend more time with her. And if she takes the step to cheat, you know I am the better person for Alice”

ha ha Mav 2 things #1 gay-jacket OMG kill me….. #2 I totally agree with your statement at the beginning of your story… Good for you. Sometimes following your heart leads us into trouble but it sure doesn’t stop us going there. Right or wrong is a hard one I always say….. great post!!
Oh and by the way… Great author’s note! People are free to like or dislike a story, and yes, sometimes people can be disappointed with a twist or the direction that the story takes, but you know what?… THEIR problem, not yours! When an author takes us on a journey, they decide of the itinerary. If whoever is not happy is free to get off the car!…
I always love how authors use James in their stories, and I just adore him in yours… Well done! Now, it seems that Tina knows everything there is to know about Helena’s scheme… The question is, is she gonna succeed in unveiling her evil streak? I can’t help but think that even so (and I hope she will), there are still a lot of obstacles for our girls to overcome before they can find their way to each other… If they ever… But I trust the vines… Oh shiut, wrong story! ;) K
I must learn not to read new chapters from you before I head off to work. They tend to stick with me all day and I have to fight the urge to re-read them numerous times to savor all the drama/intrigue/love/hate/mystery. Where’s Bette going? I hope it’s not chez Peabody. I know Tina wants more proof, but if she can’t get it, will she cease and desist whatever she’s going and tell Bette all of what’s going on? And what’s the “inevitable” you’re referring to? I’m really, really hoping there isn’t some horrid, horrid thing about to happen. Please post soon, I’ve got too many questions, not enough answers…. Thanks for the chapter.
This chapter is so well written and very close to the end. I have missed them together in your beautiful story, the closeness they share, and the easiness they spend their time together with. It’s so heart warming and perfect, you are as you said you were M, you write the two of them so well, and I think the reason is, you think and feel love when you write them, it comes from the heart and there is no better place to write anything from. You know, the chapter that I don’t see them sharing each other’s company in is cold one, cause there is no one in this story other than them that has the love and sensitivity that they have, even though they are the ones who are growing close to having another involvement outside of their marriage (which I don’t think will happen till they let the other people in this equation know of their intentions). I hope we can see them resolve whatever they have between them in the next chapter and spend a moment if not some time sharing their love and clearing the air. Gay jacket, that’s a good one. So James is the bartender, what the heck did he put in her drinks. Serves her right. Hope Tina finds what she is looking for, and hope Hel does not wake up and catch her snooping. Great update to this story and I still love it. If someone does not particularly like a story, they have the option not to read it. Keep writing, we love it. Can hardly wait for the next chapter. PPS
Tina needs to get Helena to talk more and record it. Bette does deserve what Helena has done to her Pay back is hell. thanks Dont let anyone stop you from writting, them they win
OK, so now that I’ve read all the comments above, what else is left to say ?… I too love your fabulous writing and I love this story. It’s both enchanting and riveting. And of course I’m with everybody who encouraged you to post as soon as you can. This is just too addictive. Can’t wait for more. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us, Mav’ ( if you don’t mind me calling you so ). And if I may be so bold as to give you some advice, just ignore the comments you don’t appreciate.
