    Bette makes a move, Kit makes a discovery, and we learn the truth.

     

    James: Sure thing boss.

     

    Bette quickly shuffled some papers over her the length of
    her desk, effectively hiding the picture from view.  She closed her cell phone and looked up as
    her office door slid open and Kit walked inside. The happiness and relief that
    she had been feeling just minutes before, practically drained away as she took
    in her sisters demeanor. Kit looked upsetvery upset.

     

    Bette: Hey Kit what brings you by. Youuh wont believe what
    just happened. (pauses) Have a seat. Shouldnt you be at work?

     

    Kit instead chose to stand and started to pace back and
    forth. Bette found the action highly unnerving.

     

    Bette: Kit whats the matter? Whats wrong?

     

    Kit: How could you?

     

    Bette: How could I what?

     

    Kit: How could you not tell me?

     

    Kit stopped pacing and crossed over to Bettes desk, leaning
    over and placing her palms on its surface.

     

    Bette: (confused) Tell you what. I dont understand what
    you

     

    Before Bette could finish, Kit placed a small white card in
    front of her.

     

    Bette: (softly) Oh.

     

    Kit: (upset) Oh? Thats all you have to say. You lied to me,
    Bette.

     

    Bette: (defensively) I didnt lie.

     

    Kit: You told me that it was stress. You TOLD me that you
    were getting sick from stress.

     

    Bette: IIKit

     

    Bette stood and walked to the window, looking outside with
    her back to her sister.

     

    Kit: How could you not tell me?

     

    Bette: (sighs) I didnt want you to worry.

     

    Kit: Worry? Jesus Christ Bette.this is serious.

     

    Bette: (irritated) I know that Kit.

     

    Kit: Whatwhat did this doctor have to say?

     

    Bette: I didnt make the appointment yet?

     

    Kit: (incredulous) You didntbut why?

     

    Bette: Its just too hard right nowI have too many things
    to doI dont have time

     

    Kit: (interrupts) Bullshit. ***** Bettethe show isnt
    opening for ten weeksTENthats not a few WEEKS Bette, thats a few MONTHS.
    You cant put this off for that long. You have to make the appointmentyou have
    toyou

     

    Bette heard the hitch in Kits voice and winced. Turning
    around, she was surprised to see tears in her sisters eyes. Kit had always
    been strong.  Even when her father kicked
    her out after learning  that she was
    pregnant, Kit never shed a tear.  To see
    her normally composed sister cryingcrying for herbrought Bette out of her stupor.
    She quickly moved to Kit and enfolded her in a hug.  After a few minutes, she led them both to the
    low couch against the wall and sat down.

     

    Bette: Im sorry. Im sorry that I didnt tell you.

     

    Kit: Were sisters. Were supposed to be there for one another.
    I knowI know that I wasnt always there for you growing up

     

    Bette: (interrupts) Kit, you dont have towere past that.  Youre here now. Thats what counts.

     

    Kit: Look, all Im saying Baby girl, is that I know youre
    having a difficult time and all. But please listen to me. Its importantso
    very importantthat you take care of yourself.

     

    Bette: (sighs) I know.

     

    Kit: So please tell me what Dr. Steward said. What he REALLY
    said.

     

    Bette: (quietly) He was concerned. The blood test results
    indicateda problem.

     

    Kit: (gently) What kind of problem Bette?

     

    Bette: Kit…I I might have cancer.

    1. Nice chapter. I guess we’ll just wait and see where you take us. I guess there could have been a mixup at the lab, right? It really does happen. Although, it is usually the NURSES who mix up the samples. I will run from the tomatoes now…..

    2. Ok with the way Bette and Tina’s conversation was going in the beginning I think I would drink too….LOL….Now Bette can go to this doctor and get more tests that will clear up this mistake….Post soon!

      Man, do I ever resent that statement! Nurses do not mix up samples….it is usually a lab screw up. Now that is out of the way…I am hoping that the doctor switched the sample with another patient. (Christy, now we are both off the hook.) Great chapter…Tina is pregnant and Bette might have cancer…great drama going on here.

    4. Cliff hangers I hate them post soon Tina is hurting bette to by not taking some of the responsiblity for some of the problems in their relationship. Tina needs to examine herself a little and not just place the blame on bette

    6. OK first off if you kill anyone off I will be ok with it!!! Yeah it really shocking and upseting but this is fan fic, so do what you want with YOUR story. The begining of B/T phone convo had me lmao, it was great. So cancer?? what type??
      OH and I love drama so bring it on!!!
      awesome update, can’t wait for the downhill ride. it’s the best part of the rollercoaster ride. lol

    7. Good chapter Tibette, and it was 5 pages long. Bette said that she “SHE MIGHT HAVE CANCER” I hope everything turn out fine for her. I hope Bette let Kit be there for her. And I hope Tina tell Bette she love her before she find out about the cancer.

    10. I’m glad they talked. All of them.
      Bette needs to come out of her haze and address her health. Perhaps the baby will motivate her. Is yours a story where she knows about the baby already and is just waiting for Tina to reveal it to her?
