    Bette makes a move, Kit makes a discovery, and we learn the truth.

    Bette: Bye.

     

    Bette gently placed the phone back on its cradle.

     

    Bette: Oh my God.

    Bettes finger drifted along the edge of the picture
    frame.  It was the first time that she
    was able to look at it and not feel the heaviness of loss weigh down on
    her.  It was a beautiful  picture that held such possibilities and
    wonder.  Just the thought of seeing Tina again
    brought a smile to her face.  She knew
    that she was thinking prematurelythat the road back to Tina would be difficult
    and painful. It didnt matter.  Then
    there was Helena.  Tina hadnt disclosed very much on the nature
    of her relationship with the Brit.  And
    while she didnt take Helenas
    bragging at face value, Bette often wonder if there was perhaps more than a
    grain of truth to the stories. Her friends would know.

     

    Her friends.  It had
    been months since she had seen them. Between work and getting sick all the time,
    she had hardly found time to seek them out. Well that was almost the
    truth.  The complete truth rested in
    embarrassment. She felt embarrassed and ashamed by her affair and couldnt face
    her friends. She had almost felt relieved when they went to Tinas defense. Had
    too much time gone by? Would they even want to see her?

     

    Bette shook her head at the negative feelings and frowned.
    No. They were a family. And families stood by one another no matter what.   Theyd get through this.  Besides, Bette wasnt about to let some what
    if scenarios dampen her spirits. She was just too damn happy at the moment.

     

    Her cell started to ring somewhere in the confines of her
    purse. Fishing the device out, she flipped it open and answered.

     

    Bette: Hello?

     

    Kit: Baby girl?

     

    Bette: Oh, hey Kit.

     

    Kit: Where are you?

     

    Bette: At work?

     

    Kit: Are you busy?

     

    Bette: Not particularly. Is there something wrong? Where are
    you?

     

    Kit: Im standing
    outside you office. (irritated) I called about a half hour ago and was told
    that you were in a meeting. So I came down and the gentleman outside here said
    you werent to be disturbed. 

     

    Bette: Oh well, yeah. I had some things to get through. Hold
    on.

     

    She pushed the intercom button.

     

    Bette: James, its ok. You can let her in. Just please hold
    all calls until I tell you, ok?

    1. Nice chapter. I guess we’ll just wait and see where you take us. I guess there could have been a mixup at the lab, right? It really does happen. Although, it is usually the NURSES who mix up the samples. I will run from the tomatoes now…..

    2. Ok with the way Bette and Tina’s conversation was going in the beginning I think I would drink too….LOL….Now Bette can go to this doctor and get more tests that will clear up this mistake….Post soon!

      Man, do I ever resent that statement! Nurses do not mix up samples….it is usually a lab screw up. Now that is out of the way…I am hoping that the doctor switched the sample with another patient. (Christy, now we are both off the hook.) Great chapter…Tina is pregnant and Bette might have cancer…great drama going on here.

    4. Cliff hangers I hate them post soon Tina is hurting bette to by not taking some of the responsiblity for some of the problems in their relationship. Tina needs to examine herself a little and not just place the blame on bette

    6. OK first off if you kill anyone off I will be ok with it!!! Yeah it really shocking and upseting but this is fan fic, so do what you want with YOUR story. The begining of B/T phone convo had me lmao, it was great. So cancer?? what type??
      OH and I love drama so bring it on!!!
      awesome update, can’t wait for the downhill ride. it’s the best part of the rollercoaster ride. lol

    7. Good chapter Tibette, and it was 5 pages long. Bette said that she “SHE MIGHT HAVE CANCER” I hope everything turn out fine for her. I hope Bette let Kit be there for her. And I hope Tina tell Bette she love her before she find out about the cancer.

    10. I’m glad they talked. All of them.
      Bette needs to come out of her haze and address her health. Perhaps the baby will motivate her. Is yours a story where she knows about the baby already and is just waiting for Tina to reveal it to her?
