    Bette snapped back
    to the present, angrily swiping at tears that had started to form. She wouldnt
    cry. She didnt deserve to cry. She
    looked once again over at the bed, before grabbing a pillow and blanket from
    the closet. Hesitating once again in the doorway, she closed her eyes and
    inhaled, saddened beyond words that she could no longer smell traces of the
    perfume Tina loved to wear. She pulled the door closed behind her, the latch
    driving home with a loud click that echoed faintly through the hallway. The
    finality of that sound resonated deeply in Bettes heart.

    Chapter 7


    Bette sat up in her chair, wincing at the strain in her back
    and shoulders from another restless night on the couch.  She briefly contemplated giving Kit a call
    and asking if she could spend the weekend. Of course, she realized, that
    thought was ridiculous.  Kit would
    question why she was sleeping on the couch in the first place andwell Bette
    wasnt ready for that conversation just yet. 

     

    After a brief, but highly irritating morning meeting where Helena
    ranted over the catering menu, Bette returned to her office. She left James
    implicit instructions to hold all calls and cancel all appointments for the
    next hour.  She wasnt to be disturbed
    for any reason. Closing her office door, Bette circled her desk and tidied up
    the piles of papers strewn across its surface. Pleased with her minuscule cleaning
    efforts she took a seat and pulled out a plain white sheet of paper. She sat
    for a moment, pen poised in her right hand, thinking about what she would
    write.

     

    Dearest Tina.no that
    wouldnt do    TNo, I dont think shed appreciate nicknames
    at this point    Tina

     

    Damn it, this is
    harder than I thought. Bette sighed. I have no idea what to say.

     

    I miss you. I think about you all the time

     

    Damn it. At this
    rate, this was going to take a lot longer than an hour.

    Kit opened the front door to her apartment and stepped
    inside, carrying her laundry basket under her left arm and detergent in the
    other.  She placed the items on the floor
    and took a good look around at her apartment. She was grateful when Lara
    suggested she take the rest of the afternoon off to run some much needed
    errands. The Planet usually experienced a lull in customers after the noon lunch rush and Lara assured her that she
    would call if any problems did happen to arise. Kit was very happy she found
    someone as hardworking and committed as her new chef.  When she first took over the place, she was
    new to the business world and struggled to balance both her time and her money.
    But Lara, already experienced in the restaurant scene, help Kit to organize her
    schedule so that she could spend less time worrying about what might happen
    and more time enjoying the success of owning her own business.

    1. Nice chapter. I guess we’ll just wait and see where you take us. I guess there could have been a mixup at the lab, right? It really does happen. Although, it is usually the NURSES who mix up the samples. I will run from the tomatoes now…..

    2. Ok with the way Bette and Tina’s conversation was going in the beginning I think I would drink too….LOL….Now Bette can go to this doctor and get more tests that will clear up this mistake….Post soon!

      Man, do I ever resent that statement! Nurses do not mix up samples….it is usually a lab screw up. Now that is out of the way…I am hoping that the doctor switched the sample with another patient. (Christy, now we are both off the hook.) Great chapter…Tina is pregnant and Bette might have cancer…great drama going on here.

    4. Cliff hangers I hate them post soon Tina is hurting bette to by not taking some of the responsiblity for some of the problems in their relationship. Tina needs to examine herself a little and not just place the blame on bette

    6. OK first off if you kill anyone off I will be ok with it!!! Yeah it really shocking and upseting but this is fan fic, so do what you want with YOUR story. The begining of B/T phone convo had me lmao, it was great. So cancer?? what type??
      OH and I love drama so bring it on!!!
      awesome update, can’t wait for the downhill ride. it’s the best part of the rollercoaster ride. lol

    7. Good chapter Tibette, and it was 5 pages long. Bette said that she “SHE MIGHT HAVE CANCER” I hope everything turn out fine for her. I hope Bette let Kit be there for her. And I hope Tina tell Bette she love her before she find out about the cancer.

    10. I’m glad they talked. All of them.
      Bette needs to come out of her haze and address her health. Perhaps the baby will motivate her. Is yours a story where she knows about the baby already and is just waiting for Tina to reveal it to her?
