The Adventures Of Bette Porter And Sissee Gardner Schmidt After Tina (Part 2, Chapter 10)
PART TWO: MAUI
Chapter 10
“Yes, it felt good,” replied Bette to my query, as we snuggled between the sheets.
“How good?”
“It felt like more.”
“And more and more and more?”
“Yes.”
“Did you ever think of us together during all those dry years, when we were just being friends?” I asked.
“You know I did.”
“No, I don’t know. You made it perfectly clear that all you wanted was my friendship.”
“I wanted you but I didn’t want to be your backdoor woman, sneaking around while you were having babies and raising them.”
“And now?”
“Now the kids are grown.”
“Will that make you my front door woman?”
“Do you want me to be?”
“Seriously….“
“I am being serious.”
“A lot’s happened to both of us in between those years. We’ve gone through a lot of people. We’ve changed. “
“I know Sis, we can‘t rush into anything. We can’t just break up our families today and go back to how it was yesterday. We need to give it time and make sure it’s still there.”
“Are you doubtful?”
“No, I’m hopeful.”
“You know, it’s not too late for us to still have a life together.”
Bette turned to me and put her hand on my face. She kissed me tenderly and then lowered her voice to say, “I know baby, but let’s agree that we need to give it time.”
“Okay, no plans. Let’s just see how things work out, one day at a time. Meanwhile, you may have to be my backdoor woman.” I smiled at her. “At least for a while, until we know for sure.”
She smiled back at me. “I’m not sure about that backdoor thing. I’m a front door kind of a girl.”
“Not even for me?”
“Do I get a key?”
“Yes.”
“Does it open both doors?”
“Yes. Front and back.”
“Then that’s a compromise.”
Bette kissed me again and asked me if I wanted her to make love to me. When I told her I did, she followed the same path I had taken with her and it was my turn to feel good. She liked being in control, dominating my body from head to toe. She liked using her hands and fingers which she employed with great finesse. She liked kissing my mouth and hearing my sounds as she had brought me in the past, and now in the present, to a fantastic finish. And as I laid there with my heart beating rapidly and my breath coming fast, she whispered, “I’ll be your front door/backdoor woman, baby. I’ll do whatever it takes to make it work again.”

I hope that Bette gets news from Angie soon. Thanks for posting. Always nice to get a new post from you. I check the site often just to see if your views number gets to 300 so that I don’t miss your post.
I love Maxine. I know it’s so hard on Bette not hearing anything about Angelica. Thanks for the update.
Sissee, the backdoor & frontdoor comments were funny. I can see Sissee will always be Bette’s confidant, soulmate, and best friend. Whether they will end up together in the future would be a question (due to their own circumstances). It’s always nice to know that Bette has so much support from her mom (Maxine), sister (Kit), and Sissee. I really feel bad for Bette, without any news from others re: Angie. This is another good chapter to read. Other than Maui sceneries and natural settings, this chapter gave us more information of personal relationships (between B & her mom, B & K, and B & S, of course). Thanks for your posting of a new chapter.
Azmama, You know, it seems everyone has a different idea of what love truly is. I can’t even begin to site examples but you all know what I mean. Bette and Sissee’s relationship epitomizes what love means to me and I don’t think everyone can relate. Some never feel that kind of intensity, depth and closeness of feelings but I think we all appreciate reading about it, or hearing about it, when it happens to others. It’s a rare and beautiful thing.
Kbergin47, I love Maxine too. This particular Maxine. I have a certain someone in mind when I write about her so her persona falls easily into place. I hope you will find the next chapters less frustrating now that Bette and Sissee have “finally” been intimate. Smiling, as I thank you for your post.
Brouhaha, I smile at that checking here often for that 300 mark. When hits go fast, as they do with a NC-17, I can’t keep up or sometimes my real life gets hectic and I’m not able to follow through. So it’s not a hard-fast rule of mine. But thanks for being interested enough to help things along.
I love the detail in your chapters. They are always substantive and layered. Sisseee and Bette truly love one another. I guess one moral of the story is that it is never too late to discover your one true love…..even if it is years later in life.
Bette’s Babe, Someone on my previous site, once said about the Bette and Sissee relationship that she did not see Bette as a “back door woman”. That was not exactly true because of the Candace affair but I liked that way of putting it. We all hold Bette in high esteem in spite of her human frailties that many of us share with her or easily forgive her for because, after all, she is a very special person. Thanks for your meaningful analysis. It helps me know what is important to my readers.
