That’s What Friends Are For [Chapter Three]

It was all too much for Tina, as the tears she’d been keeping at bay rolled down her cheeks. She’d wanted to hear that from the very first moment it happened. After she’d composed herself, they went on to talk about his life in the prison.

On the very same day that Tina had been visiting Henry, Bette had been visiting Jodie. She’d just left the visitors room, after a tension-filled conversation with the artist and she’d decided that she was going to get a cup of coffee before heading back to the CAC. She needed something to relax and she didn’t want to resort to any alcohol of the sort.

    “Bette!”

Her brows furrowed as she tried to work out the source of the sound. She stopped in her tracks and looked around the large car-park. It was then that she saw Tina Kennard. Amazingly, Bette had actually remembered her name. This shocked her a little.

“I have no coffee today, so you can’t bump into me and start conversation. I know what you’re up to, Tina.” Bette said playfully as soon as the blond was stood in front of her.

“Of course, that was my plan all along. I purposefully bumped into you because I know you’d fall in love with me straight away, therefore, not yelling at me over spilling boiling hot coffee over your… favourite shirt?”

Bette’s lips parted to reveal a toothy smile and instead of responding to that, she simply shook her head and playfully rolled her eyes. “Take it to the next step, why don’t you?”

Tina smirked slightly but nodded, “I like to over-exaggerate.”

“I noticed.” Bette threw back, “So, how are you?”

She shrugged slightly before sticking her thumb up and shaking it from side to side, implying that she was ‘so-so’. Truth be told, Tina had no idea how she was feeling. The meeting with Henry had been an emotional one, she didn’t know if that was good or bad. Maybe it was a mixture of both? Yeah, she could settle with that.

“And you?” Tina asked, tilting her head slightly to one side as she studied Bette’s features.
