Long Way Home 12 (TLW/BG x-over)
Nikki swiped the key and entered the room, unsure of what she might find. As she’d hoped, Helen was in, seated on the couch in the living-room area of the small suite. “Helen?”
Only at the sound of Nikki’s voice did Helen’s head turn. Her eyes were red rimmed and had the bleary look that spoke of both crying and of drink.
As Nikki came around the couch she wasn’t surprised to find a bottle of whiskey open upon the low table. A generous portion was gone from the bottle.
“Helen.” This time the name was spoken in a way that was more caring, comforting. At the same time, Nikki seated herself close to her partner and swept the other woman into her embrace.
“Oh Nikki.” Now the tears were coming freely.
Nikki slowly rocked Helen, rubbing her back. “I’m here, Helen. I’m sorry about earlier.”
“Really?” Between the drink and the emotion, Helen’s brogue tended to come on strong.
The trilled “r” at the beginning of the word made Nikki smile, even though she knew that she shouldn’t appreciate the sound due to its reason for being. “Really,” Nikki confirmed.
“You were okay? I was worried, with you out by yourself.”
This moment was where things got tricky. How much to say? “I wasn’t alone.”
Understandably, Helen’s face, which had taken on a hopeful look, fell on that news. “Oh.”
“I met a woman who works in the movies.” Nikki gave a small laugh, trying to convey the lightness of the situation to Helen. “I suppose everyone out here works in the movies. Anyway, I’d run into a mutual acquaintance the day before, so she knew about my past.”
Any upset about hearing about the woman was diminished as Helen took on a new look of concern, this one for her partner. How many times would Nikki have to suffer and pay for the same crimes? Helen reached out for Nikki’s face, tenderly smoothing the skin on her forehead, running her fingers over an eyebrow, feeling the softness of the cheek.
Nikki turned her head, planting a kiss in Helen’s palm. Then she took the hand in hers. “It’s okay. Well, mostly okay.”

I haven’t had time to go back and read from the beginning yet, but I will. Liked the bit of sass at the end. More when you can posit it we’ll read it.
Ooh, upping the stakes, are we, Tina? The “Look at what’s not yours” is an unspoken challenge that I hope Bette takes Tina up on… and soon. The talk between Helen and Nikki was very nice indeed. Please post more, and I hope you find reason to remove that question mark. I’m really enjoying the story, so carry on as you can please. Thanks for the post, pseud.
Like the sassy Tina at the end! PPS
GO TINA GO!
great to read another quick update. Just re-read from chapter 1(couldnt remember why helen/nikki were even in america!)-its progressing well-am intrigued with where you are going with this- i.e will anything happen between bette/helen nikki/tina
I’m nobody’s enabler, missy, so I’m just going to ignore the question mark. As I see it, it’s simply a bold, straight forward “TBC!”. You know, I’d stopped watching Bad Girls after Nikki made her escape to share a night of passion with Helen. I found it idiotic and insufferable (I don’t see Nikki as an idiot), but with your return with this (and that reunion I saw on Youtube) I think I’ll keep an eye open for episodes I haven’t seen. And no question marks, I await new episodes from you as well.
i think ill have to catch up on bad girls on logo. ive never seen it but im, as always, enjoying this story, your writing, and no tbc. thx
Good to see Helen and Nikki are ok and now let see B&T and hope they will work thing out and get back together. Please post more, thanks!
