    Author Notes:

    Bette and TIna talk to Jess and Jess get ready for her 16th birthday.

    “Yeah I am sure. Kelly you better get some ice on that shoulder.” Jess said.

    “I will be all right until afterwards.” Kelly said.

    “Okay.” Jess said. The team had joined them in the end field. Megan who was now an assistant coach brought out a microphone and handed it to Jess.

    “Thanks.” Jess said. She cut the microphone on. “Good evening everyone. First we want to thank you all for coming to the game tonight.” Jess said into the microphone.

    “What is she doing?” Bette asked.

    “I dont know.” Tina said leaning on her knees.

    “Tonight we have some very special guest here.” Jess said and handed the microphone to Kelly.

    “Are special guests are the kids from the center.” Kelly said. All the kids were silent. “These kids are very special to us, and we want to thank them for coming to support us here tonight.” She finished and handed the microphone back to Jess.

    “What most of you dont know is that for about year now we have been hanging out with our special friend at the center. Over the past months we have been teaching them how do different things like the arts and different sports.” Jess said and handed the microphone to Lilly. The kids cheered. Jess walked into the dugout with Kelly and Megan. Jess took off her equipment and Megan put Ice on Kellys shoulder.

    “Parents as you know we require all the players to do 10 hours of community service which was completed the first 2 weeks after winter break with the cleaning up of a local park. However a certain group of very special kids caught the attention of some of our players. Every since I have had the hardest time getting them to practice because all they want to do is spend time at the center.” Lilly said. Jess and Kelly walked back out onto the field. Lilly handed the microphone back to Jess.

    “Earlier I made a promise to a little girl. Lizzy what was that promise?” Jess asked. Lizzy answered but no one heard it. “What was that I couldnt hear you.” Jess said. She said it a little louder but she still couldnt be heard by everyone. “Hold on.” Jess ran to the gate and into the stands. “Okay now say it.” She said holding the microphone up to Lizzy.

    “That one day we would get to play in a game you guys.” Lizzy said.

    2. I am enjoying the story as well. I am confused though as to how Jess is now sixteen when she was only seven when Bette and Tina met. I clearly missed some years, I had no idea nine years had passed…will have to go back and read again! Thanks!

    3. It appeared that Jess only bonded with Ian she rarely every mentioned teddy or did anything with him. So i am a bit confused that bette and tina stated she looked after the boys.

    5. i like your story so much and you know that! i hope Jess will be more understanding with her moms, i can’t wait for the party and for the shopping car day!

    7. Jessie has always been the best big sister especially to Ian. Even though at times Jess may have felt like she was loosing her place in Bette’s life she was always there for her brothers. It is nice to see that Bette and Tina have figured that out and are trying to let Jess be the sister instead of the mini parent. This is a great story in that it shows a committed couple can be good storytelling. Now, if IC and company can get that through their thick skulls the show would be fun to watch again.

    8. When my boys were younger,we put a revoling door in, [not really] Having a house full of hairy leg boy were the good old days. Love this story, Jesse was always a smart girl and took all the special classes. so I can see her being a senior in H/school thanks

    9. hey i’ve been reading simnce 8;30 pm only had to catch up 3 wks of this story..what a wonderful story so well written love how everyone blends together love jesse she’s amazing–love your tina and bette too –it’s so believeable(sp)? can’t wait to see what happens next–
