Dana’s goofy grin was an involuntary reaction. She released Alice from their hug and signaled the Maitre D, who immediately escorted them to their table, where Meredith Arnstein and John Nash from Mercedes were already seated.
“Thank you for meeting us a few minutes early,” Meredith got straight to business. “We have a reliable source who says that Verizon’s marketing people are reconsidering the sponsorship because they’re nervous about the timing of Think Pink and the lawsuit.”
“Are you serious?” Dana was flabbergasted. “That’s just totally wrong.” Alice’s hand was on her arm quickly, offering a reassuring squeeze.
“We’re not saying it’s right,” John said hastily.
“Good,” Alice responded quietly, “because if anyone should be upset about the tabloids manipulating the schedule so that the depositions are now, it should be me”.
“Our attorney thinks that what happens next week is likely to force at least one of those rags to settle.” Dana sipped her water. “Once that happens, the rest will likely cave. It will probably be all over in the next couple of weeks, which gives us another couple of weeks before the tournament.”
“That being said, I’m sure that Dana and I can charm them tonight, which is still the purpose of this little get together, isn’t it?”
“Yes it is,” smiled John. “They’re in or out by noon tomorrow. And it’s entirely their loss if the pull out, believe you me.”
“That’s right,” Meredith chimed in. “What they don’t know is that T-Mobile has made a firm offer if the category opens up.” John and Meredith toasted each other on their coup d’etat.
“Culver City? Really?”
“Best burger in town,” Shane answered. “I swear.” Beth nodded skeptically and studied the menu printed directly onto the butcher paper that served as the tablecloth. Single, Double, Beef, Turkey or Veggie and a 10-foot condiment bar to finish it anyway one could imagine. “This was a mistake.” Concern was written on Shane’s face as the server walked up. “We can go somewhere else.”
“#2 beef, double cheese, extra bacon, and an order of onion rings, please. Large.” Beth said with an easy smile. “And a Heineken please.” She glanced at Shane who couldn’t hide her surprise. “Better make that a pitcher.”

hiya SG! In total agreement with everyone else on how great your total storyline development is clicking along! I was hungry for a double cheeseburger after reading your update–am looking forward to more Shane and Beth–this is a twist on Shane that I quite like. Overall, the sense of true friendship comes from your writing- and that makes it way too easy to get invested in your stories! Good stuff…and thanks for the update!
Crap, Helena’s insecurities have come to play. I hope Lara and Helena can work things out. I adore Alice and Dana, they are just SOOOOO cute!
I was just about to shut down the computer and go to bed when I thought I give the site one last check, and I’m so glad I did. I know I’m saying this for the millionth time, but you really do get better every single time you post. It’s amazing to me how you can get me so invested in every single storyline. I doubt there’s ever been a movie, show, book, or anything else that’s managed to do that. This was an excellent update, and it really laid the groundwork for a lot of things to come. Can’t wait to see how everything plays out.
First let me second and third everything MT said in her comments. I am a Danish shipper, but, I find myself invested in all the relationships in your stories. I love the tentative steps that Shane and Beth are taking. So sweet. Helena and Lara are in trouble. I think they need to talk more than they need to have sex. I hope they can get it together since they seem like they are good for each other. Bette and Tina seem to be OK. For now. Stupid TAs. I just adore how you write Alice and Dana. The love, lust, support, respect, joy, etc, etc… is wonderful to read. Talking to the baby is so cute. I can’t wait to see what the plan is for the tabloids. I’m glad Dana is so calm about it — she doesn’t need the stress right now. I’m worried about Alice going back to that hotel. At least Dana will be there with her. I caught up! YAY I read this one aloud too and I have to say it makes my ears hot lol. Awesome update mama I wasn’t expecting the Shane Helena Lara triangle Shane is going to be really fucking surprised to learn she’s in a love triangle eh? I also have to comment on the toothpaste because its so beyond disturbing but the perfect kind of throw away that we are so accustomed to. No Danish sex :( sad face because you know how I love the hot hot heated sexy time they bring or you bring I’m not sure which but yeah I need a lot of that next chapter. I did however enjoy the end scene with Dave and the baby its good that they’re getting aquatinted ahead of time also its beyond adorable. I can’t wait for the next chapter but I hope you won’t make me wait too long (that means I want a snippet) love you mama b! Post Soon!

As always, amazing. I have to agree with Clozzy tho, the lack of Danish lovin’ made me a little sad, but only a little. Also, I love Helena and Lara together, so congrats on making me nervous! haha.
