Thousands of miles away, Dylan sat in an Internet café, Bon Dia (Good Day).  She had shutdown her laptop and had moved to a small table against the wall where she sipped a lemon drink called Kas Limon and munched on a baguette filled with manchego cheese and sausage.  It had been two days since she’d last seen Helena and it seemed like years.  Dylan wasn’t especially religious, but for a while she had practiced Nichiren Buddhism where she chanted Daimoku.  Over the years, it hadn’t held much weight with her, but when she needed it, she chanted, Daimoku—nam myoho renge kyo over and over.  It wasn’t magic, but the mantra actually soothed her emotionally and once, she attributed finding her forgotten wallet at a busy intersection on Santa Monica Boulevard to her obsessive chanting as she ran back for it.  Sitting in the café, Dylan sat at the table, facing the window, her lips moved quickly as she whispered the words, “Nam myoho renge kyo, nam myoho renge kyo, nam myoho renge kyo.”  She said the words so fast that they had turned into one long sound, “nammyohorengekyo, nammyohorengekyo, nammyohorengekyo, nammyohorengekyo.”  The mantra was for Helena—that she would understand and come to her.  As beautiful as this place was, it meant nothing without Helena beside her.  Dylan pulled at the bread, picking off one small piece that never reached her mouth.  She closed her eyes, saw Helena’s long hair, felt it brushing against her bare shoulder as they kissed.  She felt Helena’s warm breath blow on her nipples, compelling them to harden.  She thought about the gift of an editing room and wondered what she could ever give this woman who had everything.  She had only one gift—her love and Helena had all of that.  It was there for Helena’s taking.  She hoped Helena would take it, take her, always love her.  “Nam myoho renge kyo, nam myoho renge kyo, nam myoho renge kyo.”

    1. i am once again left speechless at your incredible ability to weave a tale. i actually yelped in excitement when Angie was safe but at the same time, believe it or not, felt somewhat sorry for Josh. only your writing could evoke that somewhat schizophrenic sympathy.I’m also a bit worried at the introduction of Jodi into the story but hope that after all that we’ve been through with Bette and Tina to date, she will not pose a threat to their relationship.as for all of the other characters and their stories, i am finding them entertaining and interesting as well which is not usually the case when reading as i’m pretty much just a Tina/Bette fan. this again, is testimony to your ability to ability to entertain.thanks again for the story and the time and effort that must be involved. looking forward as always to reading more.

    2. I’ve spent the past two days reading the whole thing, and honestly? It’s great. Really, really great. The characters are well written and adhere to canon, your reweaving of the events of Season 3 into this alternative version is not only really well done, but in my mind — preferable. As for the Jodi issue, if she’s like every other non-core character in your work (herself, but changed), I’ll be very happy to see where that goes. I do wonder, though, moments after Bette is reunited with Tina and her baby for the first time in weeks, she wanders off to talk to Jodi? That seems a little… I don’t know, inhuman? But, hey, if that’s my only complaint in 26 chapters, consider it an amazing feat. I’m a huge Danish fan, and I’m happy to see you keeping the love alive. Would love to see more of that relationship in your writing, but generally I think the chapters are fairly good about being even with their time. You’re prolific. Are you really spitting out this much in three days? Because if so, that’s incredible. I mean, really, really exceptional. Thanks for writing this, it’s a great read, and I can’t wait to see more of it.

    3. Thank goodness Angelica is safe. I’m glad Boden was there. Um, not too excited about Jodi showing up in this story :). Can’t wait for the celebration…hope everyone gets a little ‘private celebration’ time . You’ve really spoiled us this last week Portia. Thanks for this wonderful fic and don’t be gone too long :)

    4. Bette better mess up of jodi!! yeah for angie being okay… now it’s time for the port-kennards to get on with their lives. tina needs to finish her rehab.i wonder what else steph. did what else is she hiding??? great update!!:)

    5. Ahhhh… I can breathe now. That was tense, but Baby A is safe, finally! I’m so glad there was a third person there and Boden clocked that whining maggot Josh. Although, I think Bette would have ripped him apart eventually anyway. Hels is leaving, which is a shame, but her heart’s somewhere else… So! Ol’ Steph’s about to get her comeuppance, big time. I hope Peter gets his money back, as well as his furniture. I’m dreading the stuff coming out that was on that list of hers. Girl needs help, if she can survive prison. This was so good, I can’t wait for the next post. thanks Portia.
