Laid Up: Another Season 3 – Chapter 26C
“But baby, we’d be in prison together, sharing a cell. I could be your bitch.”
Tina was irritated at them. “Are you in?” her tone wasn’t a pleasant question, but a request to stop goofing around.
Dana nodded. “We’re in.”
“Dana and Alice, you guys have to distract the cops.”
Tina looked at Carmen. “You can drive me?”
“Yeah, I’m ready.”
“And Kit, you’ll be me. In here by yourself, all right?”
Kit nodded.
Tina continued, looking at Carmen, “We’ll go out over there from the bedroom’s side door, onto the deck, around to the gate, and out to the driveway.” Tina’s speech was clear and precise.
“Give us two minutes and then you’ll have as much time as you need,” Alice said.
Alice grabbed Dana’s hand and opened the door.
“Good luck,” Dana said.
“Thanks, Dane.”
They closed the door behind them and Tina remained on the bed, her purse next to her, and her cell in her hand. She stared at the small table clock counting down the minutes and then watching as the second hand ticked from one moment to the next.
In the living room, Alice looked at Dana and said in a theatrical whisper, “I’m just so worried. I need, I don’t know, to be held and comforted.”
“Is there anything I can do?” Dana said stiffly, her acting leaving a lot to be desired.
“Hold me,” Alice said with a pout.
“Why that look, baby? Let me kiss those lips.” Dana was a little nervous, but she was willing to do this in front of Marcus and the police for Tina.
Time passed.
In the bedroom, Tina watched as the second hand clicked over the number twelve. It was exactly two minutes later and she looked at Carmen. “Ready?”
“Let’s go.”
Kit began opening and closing drawers to keep sounds coming from the room while Carmen led the way, peaking into the kitchen from the deck. Alice and Dana were in the middle of a serious make out session in the dining room and Carmen doubted that they remembered why they were creating this distraction. They may have forgotten, but they were doing what they had promised to do. The police officer had moved his chair and was pretending to look at the Vogue but was sneaking glances around the sides of the magazine. The technician had completely turned in his chair and stared openly at the women with his mouth agape. Marcus had turned to look at some of the undamaged art work that was displayed on the shelves in the living room. Alice’s hand was on Dana’s ass as she pushed her closer and closer. Dana’s fingers played over the planes of Alice’s face. Dana’s eyes looked closed, but she was squinting, watching the doors between the kitchen and deck. Dana watched as Carmen, then Tina slipped out of the bedroom, onto the deck, and around the pool.

i am once again left speechless at your incredible ability to weave a tale. i actually yelped in excitement when Angie was safe but at the same time, believe it or not, felt somewhat sorry for Josh. only your writing could evoke that somewhat schizophrenic sympathy.I’m also a bit worried at the introduction of Jodi into the story but hope that after all that we’ve been through with Bette and Tina to date, she will not pose a threat to their relationship.as for all of the other characters and their stories, i am finding them entertaining and interesting as well which is not usually the case when reading as i’m pretty much just a Tina/Bette fan. this again, is testimony to your ability to ability to entertain.thanks again for the story and the time and effort that must be involved. looking forward as always to reading more.
WOW. you put so much into this everyone was weitten about. Could have done without Jodie tho. thanks
I’ve spent the past two days reading the whole thing, and honestly? It’s great. Really, really great. The characters are well written and adhere to canon, your reweaving of the events of Season 3 into this alternative version is not only really well done, but in my mind — preferable. As for the Jodi issue, if she’s like every other non-core character in your work (herself, but changed), I’ll be very happy to see where that goes. I do wonder, though, moments after Bette is reunited with Tina and her baby for the first time in weeks, she wanders off to talk to Jodi? That seems a little… I don’t know, inhuman? But, hey, if that’s my only complaint in 26 chapters, consider it an amazing feat. I’m a huge Danish fan, and I’m happy to see you keeping the love alive. Would love to see more of that relationship in your writing, but generally I think the chapters are fairly good about being even with their time. You’re prolific. Are you really spitting out this much in three days? Because if so, that’s incredible. I mean, really, really exceptional. Thanks for writing this, it’s a great read, and I can’t wait to see more of it.
more sharmeeeeeen!!! pleasee!!..excellent chap, so glad angie’s ok, hope you post soon
Thank goodness Angelica is safe. I’m glad Boden was there. Um, not too excited about Jodi showing up in this story :). Can’t wait for the celebration…hope everyone gets a little ‘private celebration’ time . You’ve really spoiled us this last week Portia. Thanks for this wonderful fic and don’t be gone too long :)
Nice way to weave Jodi and Big Bear into the story – and loved that Bette denied ‘gush’ing. Great stuff, Portia.
Bette better mess up of jodi!! yeah for angie being okay… now it’s time for the port-kennards to get on with their lives. tina needs to finish her rehab.i wonder what else steph. did what else is she hiding??? great update!!:)
Ahhhh… I can breathe now. That was tense, but Baby A is safe, finally! I’m so glad there was a third person there and Boden clocked that whining maggot Josh. Although, I think Bette would have ripped him apart eventually anyway. Hels is leaving, which is a shame, but her heart’s somewhere else… So! Ol’ Steph’s about to get her comeuppance, big time. I hope Peter gets his money back, as well as his furniture. I’m dreading the stuff coming out that was on that list of hers. Girl needs help, if she can survive prison. This was so good, I can’t wait for the next post. thanks Portia.
glad angie is ok…can’t wait for shane to get home and face the wrath of carmen…things need to change
