Tina shoots Bette an uncomfortable look.
Bette: I mean…she soldiered on and all that.
Tina: Bette…I don’t know how she felt. If she did, though then she discarded it by hanging out with Alice. Speaking of which, as soon as I leave here, I’m going straight to the hospital. And I’m gonna make Al leave for a little bit.
Bette: She was sleeping in the room this morning. She’s exhausted.
Tina: I know…I’m gonna make her go home and rest for a little bit.
Bette: Okay…good luck with that. Um…I’m gonna go. I need to grab a bite to eat and run some errands.
Tina: Thanks for coming in, Bette. I appreciate it.
Bette: Of course.
As Bette begins to leave Tina’s office, she can’t help but wonder that something’s different now. While that nagging feeling is inside of her, Dana is surrounded by friends in her room.
In the room with Dana are Alice, Carmen and Jenny.
Dana: Awww man…that sucks, Carmen.
Carmen: Yeah…but who needs to talk about stuff like breakups anyway?
Alice: Yeah, too depressing.
Alice hits the play button on a singing flower pot that she had purchased recently. The item begins singing, "You Are My Sunshine." Dana laughs while Jenny politely smiles. Carmen’s hurt erases momentarily at the sound of Dana’s laughter.
Alice: Amazing what they sale in gift stores?
Jenny: That would make a great car alarm.
Carmen: Umm……..I’ll be right back. I’m gonna go grab a drink out of the vending machine.
Alice: Okay.
Carmen smiles and leaves the hospital room. She soon has company however as Jenny catches up to her.
Jenny: Carmen!
Jenny reaches with her right arm for Carmen’s left. Carmen stops.
Jenny: Talk to me…what happened?
Carmen looks down for a moment before speaking. As she does, her voice cracks.
Carmen: …I fucked up.
Jenny: How?
Carmen: Does it matter, Jenny? She told me couldn’t do this anymore.
Jenny: I’m sorry, Carmen. You know….I really wanted it to work between you two. …It was the real deal….
Carmen is reminded suddenly a moment in the past. The moment haunts her now in reflection.
Carmen: No….the only thing that’s real anymore is my ability to fail at the one thing I want.
Carmen turns and walks away as Jenny looks on.

I see a Lara & Carmen thing happenin’, something you strongly hinted at in ‘Mystical’. Also a Bette & Helena pairing? Can’t wait. Great start.
Nice job and start, I can’t wait to read how this new perspective on everything develops. I agree with all comments so far, can’t wait to see how the cliffhanger with Lara goes on…does she even know what’s going on? Is it Carmen to the rescue? I didn’t really warm to the idea of the two of them in “Mystical..” but who knows here now, considering that there IS a Danish ‘ship, however that manifests itself. Will there be any Lara and Dana (and Alice for that matter) resolution? Or will they just form a threesome? lol. I loved “Mystical…” and thnk I will be loving this too…keep it up and update soon!
such a sweet story! how i wish IC had chosen a similar version for S3… can’t wait to see how lara’s arrival affects dana and alice’s rekindled relationship.. and poor sharmen.. looking forward to your future chapters!

Great start, I only wish Ilene would have gone the way you are taking them. They deserved better, so keep going and I’ll just have to live through fan fic stories!
