Five Ways to End It – Part Five: The “F” Word
Tina hated New York. It wasn’t her kind of town, not at all. The noise, the people, the vacant thousand-yard stares on everyone’s faces… no one made eye contact except the random crazies in the street. It was cold and rainy for the first two days she had been there, and she had been splashed with nasty rainwater by a cab as a reward for standing too close to the curb. After her third exhausting day there, she found herself collapsing on her hotel bed, missing California fiercely. L.A. wasn’t perfect, but it was home.
At least the hotel that Alphaville had booked for her was nice. Four stars, quiet, prompt and efficient service. And the work she was doing was great, tiring but rewarding. As tired as she was and as much as she hated the city, at least her project was going well. She was going to return to L.A. with enough information and new ideas to secure her spot as part of the team working on the creative vision for the film adaptation. She was hoping she’d be made the sole producer; it would be the most influence she’d ever had at work and she was excited about it.
She was still thinking of Bette, of course – it was impossible not to, in spite of her best efforts. She had picked up the phone to call once, twice, more times than she would admit to anyone, but couldn’t find the courage to go through with it. Tina decided she would just get through this trip and when she got home she would work it out with Bette somehow. If she could wait that long. Tina glanced at the clock, then the phone. It was still early in California. What was Bette doing?
Tina imagined her working at home, her tortoise shell reading glasses perched on the end of her nose, eating out of a carton of Chinese. She imagined Bette at a party, being as charming as she had been the night they met, networking in that way she had. She pictured Bette on a date, smiling over her wine at some faceless-yet-alluring woman, perhaps sizing up her companion and deciding whether or not to take her home. And if Bette did take that woman home…

I loved that ending…”You keep it then we always have a reason for coming back to each other.” I must say Omalley…it screams sequence and by the way, it isn’t just your sister that loves your writing! Wonderful story!
That was a wonderful story and a perfect ending….a sequel would be great but I would take any story from you. Just give us more of B & T….please?

All I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you… for sticking with this story and writing the absolutely perfect ending. This chapter had me cursing, crying, and smiling through tears of joy. If you ever feel like writing a sequel, count me in as a devoted fan! This is one of my all time favorite stories on the site. Keep writing! You sister is right!
Loved it, loved this story from start to finish. This has been such a joy to read, thank you for writing it. Come back with your next story soon, please. :) Thanks
I love happy ending, and I especially love happy Tibette endings. Thank you for posting this story.
Would have liked to see Tina take some initiative and risk in this one. Thanks for sharing.

simply beautiful….another story please. and I AM A FAN!
Fantastic. I loved this entire story.
A sequel then? Thank you…this is an incredible story of two people inlove.
On each turn of the page, my thoughts were will they or won’t they get back together. Loved the ending sorry to see “The End”. I really hope this is not the end for you, maybe single chapters or will there be a sequel? Thank you for a great read!
a great ending to a great story, thank you
A great finale to a great story. Tina’s vulnerability throughout has been touching.Bette’s reactions, as they progressed from the first chapters to the end have felt very real and I understood why she took a step back (and why she had to change her mind). As is always the case, I love and am grateful for your stories but selfishly want more and more and more.
that was so worth the wait! wonderful story. i agree with valenkat… do we get a sequel?! :)
This was their beginning, so does this mean we get a sequel?? you really had me going there for a minute with the whole freinds thing, but great recovery! Well done:)
Thank you so much for sharing this very charming story. I enjoyed every minute of it. Is it too much to ask for a sequel?
The story and the writing are just wonderful. I love all your stories and I hope that you will continue to write more B&T stuff.
