    Thanksgiving Day arrives at the MacKenzie’s.

    “Angie said she could recommend a few people who could help me put together a show, but if I do it, I don’t want anyone else but her.”

    David continued to listen without offering much in the way of a suggestion.

    Angie wasn’t sure what to make of his quiet demeanor. Wanting to assure both of Lyndsay’s parents that her interests in Lyndsay were personal in nature and not just professional she spoke…….

    “Mr. & Mrs. MacKenzie, the reason I suggested someone else is because I don’t want anyone to think that I was taking advantage of Lyndsay in any way. I suggested that she get an agent to represent her before deciding on anything related to pursuing a show. She has an amazing talent, we all know that, but I do not want anyone to think that anyone is taking advantage of her in any way. I want to ensure her interests are looked after first and foremost if she pursues this.”

    Lyndsay wasn’t too keen to pursue anything if Angie was not involved. She trusted her and didn’t understand the reluctance her girlfriend was showing in being the curator.

    “Daddy, I want to do a show, but I want it to be with Angie, I don’t know that I would be as comfortable with anyone else. She suggested that I talk to you before making a final decision to see what your thoughts were.”

    David sat in his chair and thoughtfully considered the options. He knew that Angie was an excellent good curator and would do a fine job with Lyndsay’s show. The question was, would their budding relationship suffer because of it? All that mattered to him in the end was that his little girl was happy.

    “Well Lynds, I must say that I am extremely pleased with your change of heart regarding doing the art show. You know how proud of you your Mother and I are, and that we think your paintings are amazing. However, Angie may be correct in her hesitation of being the curator for the show.”

    “Daddy, I don’t think that’s fair………”

    David interrupted her before she could finish.

    “Lyndsay, please let me finish. I think Angie is correct that you should use someone else. Not because she isn’t good enough, but because she is emotionally involved with you and perhaps it would be better to seek a more impartial judgment when it comes to selecting the pieces and creating the theme for the show.”

    Angie listened carefully to what David was saying. He was confirming what she had previously said to Lyndsay, so that provided her some comfort that they believed that she did not want to take advantage of their daughter in any way because of her talent.

    Barb had been sitting quietly just listening to the conversation. She was interested in her husband’s thoughts as well and asked the question “Honey, if you don’t think it should be Angelica, I’m guessing that you have someone else in mind?”

    2. Yes, of course, the one and only Bette Porter, no one else could do it justice as well as Bette. Although she is Angie’s mother, she is first and foremost the best damned curator in the world especially for new artists. Angie must be thinking that too. Besides Bette will get the best agent for Lynds that can be found anywhere. Bette has a stellar reputation, second to none as we all know. Can hardly wait to know what David is thinking. PPS

    4. Oh yeah…I have thought Bette from the beginning. Bette saw her talent immediately too and David knew that from Bette putting her picture out in the previous show. Great story Taz!

    9. Can’t wait to learn who David has in mind. As much as we would like to have Bette receiving the task, she is also family to Angie. Therefore, again we see a conflict of interests.
