    Angelica & The Artist – Chapter 38

There were a few people, friends of the MacKenzie’s whom she had actually met previously at various art shows so it was a comfortable afternoon for her. Lyndsay had watched carefully as Angie had fit right in. She had worried a little about how the afternoon would progress, but Angie was her usual outgoing confident self and fit right in.

Carolyn also had watched in awe as Angie worked the room. She met up with Lyndsay at the bar and simply stated “She’s amazing”.

Lyndsay didn’t miss a beat when she simply looked in Angie’s direction and replied “I know.”

Dinner was a huge success and by the time the evening wrapped up and everyone left, it was nearing midnight.

With most of the clean up complete, David suggested that they meet in his study for a night cap, so he and Angie headed in that direction while Lyndsay and Barb finished up.

When Angie walked in the room, she immediately saw the two paintings that Lyndsay had given her parents on her last visit home and walked towards them.

As she looked at them David walked over to her and handed her a glass of port.

“I know she is my daughter, but I think she has an amazing talent.”

“I have to agree with you, she is very talented.”

“I understand there are more paintings in storage.”

“Yes…..Lynds took me to see them all on our way here yesterday. Each one is worthy of hanging in a gallery.”

It was during this part of the conversation that Lyndsay and Barb joined them in the study.

Lyndsay spoke when she heard this last comment from Angie. “Well then I guess we will have to see about doing just that.”

David was surprised by this statement. “Do you mean you have changed your mind about possibly doing a show?”

“Yes Daddy, actually I have changed my mind. Angie and I discussed it briefly yesterday, and I asked her if she thought a show was possible with the pieces that I showed her.”

David was very surprised by this change in his daughter who only weeks ago was adamant that she was not interested in doing anything like this. Lyndsay saw the look on his face before he responded. “I see.”

    1. Yes, of course, the one and only Bette Porter, no one else could do it justice as well as Bette. Although she is Angie’s mother, she is first and foremost the best damned curator in the world especially for new artists. Angie must be thinking that too. Besides Bette will get the best agent for Lynds that can be found anywhere. Bette has a stellar reputation, second to none as we all know. Can hardly wait to know what David is thinking. PPS

    2. Tazzie, can both Angie and Bette be curator to Lyndsays’ show? Dosen’t the cruator get reconition for a show? Oh ya and that Lyndsay is a tease to Angie. Happy Holidays to you and yours, thank you, Md

    3. Oh yeah…I have thought Bette from the beginning. Bette saw her talent immediately too and David knew that from Bette putting her picture out in the previous show. Great story Taz!

    4. interest? what interest? I am in-love with your story. and yes its gotta be the one and only BP!! WILL BARB HANDLE is the question? or will Tina have to stay way in the distance? pps

    5. Oh wow! I wonder if David has Bette in mind? I mean who else does he respect enough, and have that much confidence to put his daughter’s potential future career in their care? Come on now Tazzie, don’t you be a grinch. POST SOON!!!!! ;- )))

    6. Can’t wait to learn who David has in mind. As much as we would like to have Bette receiving the task, she is also family to Angie. Therefore, again we see a conflict of interests. Happy holidays, Tazzie. May you enjoy it in the company of those you love dearly. Hugs and kisses on both your cheeks. Lucero & Marsha (Proud Salsa Aunties to the ever loving JC and Eunichick)
