    Angelica & The Artist – Chapter 38

    Chapter 38

    The next morning…..

Angie awakens and reaches over to cuddle up to her girlfriend, only to find a cold empty bed. Groggily looking over she sees just a pillow but no girlfriend. She glances at the clock and sees that it is 8:30AM…..who gets up this early on a holiday she wonders to herself. Laying there for a few more minutes, she hears voices downstairs so she crawls out of the bed and pulls on some sweats and a sweatshirt before making her way to the kitchen.

There she finds the MacKenzie family all scurrying around the kitchen with the preparations for dinner that afternoon. Each seemingly has a designated job and at first do not notice their guests arrival. Angie stands back and watches the interaction between the three. David is the first to notice Angie standing there.

    “Good morning Ang, Happy Thanksgiving.”

She responds “’Morning, Happy Thanksgiving to you too.”

This causes the other two to look over and see Angie standing in the doorway. Lyndsay smiles at her girlfriend. “Hey there, can I make you some breakfast?”

Angie sees the activity all around in the kitchen and declines the offer just asking for some coffee instead.

Lyndsay pours her a cup and brings it over. After giving her a quick kiss on the cheek, she goes back to her task. Not really sure what to do, Angie just stands in the doorway watching. Finally she gets up the courage to ask if she can help.

David jumps in and suggests that she can help set the dining room table. She is told that all the dishes and silverware are stacked on the sideboard so everything she needs should be laid out already. Thinking to herself that this is a job that she can handle quite easily, she accepts her task and heads in the direction of the dining room.

Barb just looks at David and smiles. “That was mean.”

Looking innocently at his wife he feigns innocence, “What did I do?”

Lyndsay shakes her head and suggests that she will go help when she finishes her current job.

Barb laughs. “Does Angie have any idea how many people will be here today?”

Lyndsay does not respond right away.

    1. Yes, of course, the one and only Bette Porter, no one else could do it justice as well as Bette. Although she is Angie’s mother, she is first and foremost the best damned curator in the world especially for new artists. Angie must be thinking that too. Besides Bette will get the best agent for Lynds that can be found anywhere. Bette has a stellar reputation, second to none as we all know. Can hardly wait to know what David is thinking. PPS

    2. Tazzie, can both Angie and Bette be curator to Lyndsays’ show? Dosen’t the cruator get reconition for a show? Oh ya and that Lyndsay is a tease to Angie. Happy Holidays to you and yours, thank you, Md

    3. Oh yeah…I have thought Bette from the beginning. Bette saw her talent immediately too and David knew that from Bette putting her picture out in the previous show. Great story Taz!

    4. interest? what interest? I am in-love with your story. and yes its gotta be the one and only BP!! WILL BARB HANDLE is the question? or will Tina have to stay way in the distance? pps

    5. Oh wow! I wonder if David has Bette in mind? I mean who else does he respect enough, and have that much confidence to put his daughter’s potential future career in their care? Come on now Tazzie, don’t you be a grinch. POST SOON!!!!! ;- )))

    6. Can’t wait to learn who David has in mind. As much as we would like to have Bette receiving the task, she is also family to Angie. Therefore, again we see a conflict of interests. Happy holidays, Tazzie. May you enjoy it in the company of those you love dearly. Hugs and kisses on both your cheeks. Lucero & Marsha (Proud Salsa Aunties to the ever loving JC and Eunichick)
