A helping hand and a push in the right direction-CH. 27

“Good for her. It’s about time she stood up for herself.”

“Katie I’m not some ogre that controls every little thing in Elizabeth’s life. She made her own decisions and is responsible for her own actions. I wasn’t responsible for their separation.”

“You’re right daddy you weren’t, but you know you didn’t make it easy for them. You never really approved of their relationship, and Tina knew that. Whether you did it on purpose or not you did cause some strain on their relationship. Bette wasn’t innocent either she let you get away with being cold to Tina, and don’t try to deny it.”

Melvin sighed, he hated to admit it but Kit was right. Kit saw that her father wasn’t going to say anything so she went on.

“I never understood why you disapproved of Tina. She’s smart, kind, beautiful, and she loved Bette just as much as Bette loved her. No one’s ever made Bette as happy as Tina does. Eli’s the only exception but he came from Tina so I’m not too surprised that she loves him as much as she does.”

“She kept referring to them as her family.”

“You might think that this is happening really fast but whether you see it or not Bette belongs with Tina.”

Melvin let out a long sigh. “I’m not blind. She spoke of them with such affection, but…”

“But nothing. They make Bette happy that should be enough.”

“What if she decides to leave Elizabeth again?”

Kit let out a deep breath. “You know as well as I do that there are no guarantees in life. What I do know is that Bette and Tina love each other and are more then willing to rectify any mistakes they’ve made in the past. Bette won’t go outside of her marriage again. We both know how much she regretted that. She…”

“I remember I don’t need to be reminded.”

Kit nodded she understood her father’s reluctance to revisit a very painful time in Bette’s past. “Well they’ve been given a second chance and they’re going to take it with your blessing or not. This is Bette’s chance to have her family and she’s going to make it happen no matter what.”

    1. I was so happy to see you post…then I saw 6 pages I was like yeah! Melvin is coming around, I am glad Bette is not making it easy for him. He helped put a strain on their marriage all those years ago and he needs to own up to that. I am glad Bette is so protective of her family. Please post soon.

    2. Yeah, Bette held her ground and again relayed the message that she was not going to tolerate his behavior towards Tina. Tina has finally become the equal to Bette in all aspects of Bette’s life. Loved how Eli went toe to toe with Melvin and won.

    3. a very good chapter, i like the fact that Bette protect her family but Eli is such a charming boy and he will win the Melvin’s heart like he did with the others people. i really want to read about the openning and some love time i can’t wait for the next chapter!

    4. Always thrilled to see youor posts. Love this story to the MAX. The way you have developed Eli is absolutely wonderful, you hve made him such a great child and everyone, and I mean everyone loves him to pieces. Even old Melvin seems to like him. So happy that Bette had the gonads to stand up to her father and happy also that Kit gave him a bit of advice on that subject as well. Can hardly wait for the next episode in this story. LOVE, ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS STORY. Thanks.

    5. Everytime I see a post from you, I get a big goofy smile on my face. I totally loves this story and your great writing. Eli was awesome with Mr. Porter and is that man retarded or what????? This post was a bit ‘heavy’, but very much necessary for the story, you’re a amazing writer. Post as soon as possible….PLEASE LOL.

    6. Toribio, I simply adore this story!!! I cannot go into details for this chapter, there would be too much to say, but all I can say is that this chappy is one of the best you’ve written so far! Everyone is so much in character and there are so many emotions coming from the different interactions! You’re such a talented writer and the next post cannot come soon enough for me! I know I always say the same, but what you’ve done with Eli’s character is simply amazing! I love that kid! I’m also very happy that Tina was able to witness Bette’s standing up to her father, that’s the least she deserves, and that’s an understatement. And Kit’s so right: The first person Melvin should make amends to is Tina. I really believe that she took a lot of shit from him and it’s about time she’s treated like she deserves, not only with respect, but also love and gratitude for making Bette this happy! Oups, sorry about the rambling… BTW, I loved Kit’s argument to her father at the beginning of the chapter, that’s a hell of a universal argument! Well done, and many thanks!!! Ok, I’m done…

    7. toribio, a fantastic post once again! Excellent, difficult dialogue from each character. I agree with kword wholeheartedly! Would love to see Melvin make this 180% turn and make amends for his earlier foolishness! Can’t wait to see the next chapter! Hope you continue this story indefinitely!
