    A crush, a meeting then love?? – Chapter 37

“Christina, I’m not expecting you to forgive me. I know I have hurt you beyond words. I have failed in my job as a mother. I don’t know how else to explain it. And I will spend the rest of my life apologizing to you and make it up to you, if you will let me.” Kathleen says looking at Tina with tears running freely down her cheeks.

“I can’t forgive you, not yet. Part of me wants to, but” Tina says, she wipes away a tear before it makes it to her cheek.

There is a silence between them. Kathleen is looking at her daughter.

“Christina, you look beautiful. You’ve changed a lot.” Kathleen says after a little while.

“Thanks, yeah, I needed to change.” Tina replies.

“It suits you, the longer hair. It’s nice So what do you do for a living?” Kathleen asks curiously.

“I’m a photographer, a freelancer. I have a good career. I just got a job with golf.com. I’ll be following the LPGA tour. So I’ll be close to Bette.” Tina says and looks at Kathleen.

“That’s great. So you’ve been living in Los Angeles all these years?” She asks.

“Yeah, a little over a year ago, I bought an apartment in West Hollywood. Me and Bette is living there now.” Tina replies. “How is dad?” Tina asks all of a sudden.

“He’s the same old self. I don’t think he’ll come around any time soon. I tried to talk to him the other day, when we saw you on TV, but he left the room. I’m sorry.” Kathleen replies.

“I didn’t expect anything from him. That’s okay.” Tina says and looks down on the carpet.

“Mom, I want to introduce you to Bette. If you want me in your life, you have to accept her too. Because we’re in it for the long haul. I love her mom.” Tina says getting teary again.

“I would like to meet her properly.” Kathleen replies.

“BETTE? Could you come in here?” Tina calls out.

    Bette walks in curiously.

    “What Tee?” She asks.

“I would like you to meet my mother, Kathleen Kennard. Mom this is Elizabeth Porter, Bette.” Tina says.

Bette reaches out her hand for Kathleen to shake.

“Hello, it’s nice to meet you.” Kathleen says and gives her a little smile.

“Nice to meet you too.” Bette replies.

Tina looks at her mother then she takes a step closer. Kathleen does the same thing.

Then they pull each other into a hug. Tina breaks down, finally letting go of all the emotions she’s been keeping up this whole trip. Kathleen just holds her daughter, rubbing her back gently. Bette looks on and can’t help but getting teary too. Same goes for Sarah and Chris who is watching from the hallway.

    6. That was overwhelmingly happy and sad. Her mother took a big step as did Tina. But now Tina can let go of some of the pain and hurt…she can release some if not most of her anger at her family for abandoning her. Loved this story..please continue on.

    7. Damn I’m still wiping the tears away, this is wonderful and glad to see Tina’s mother come, this is so touch. Ok now about Bette’s moneys damn that is alot of moneys $70 million dollars, she a millionaire damn maybe I come working for her lol. Post soon please, thanks! Excellent chapters!

    8. Very intense chapter, Lauren. Even if – fortunately – everybody didn’t know such awful familial rejection, we are all able to deeply relate to.
And I’m with others here : if the so narrow-minded father would never do any gesture, well, that would be his own burden and Tina is already surrounded enough with the rest of the family. Too bad for the last stone-hearted “Christian”.

I also highly appreciated Tina’s way to always keep Bette next to her, making clear that both have to be accepted together or nothing.

      Beautiful job, Lauren, thanks !

    9. OK im a lurker! there ive said it lol so i love your story and wouldnt miss a chapter tho i dont always comment sorry bout that! lol so looking forward to lots more thanks
