Thursdays – (Chapter: Stress, Confusion, and Anger)
Ashley grew silent, and her mother let out a quiet, but evil chuckle. Richard decided it was time to intervene.
“Ladies. Ladies. We need to settle this matter like professionals, and legally. That is why you hired us. Now can we get back to the negotiation?”
Both women fell quiet.
Jerry was the next to speak. “Right. Now my client wishes to receive only what was in the original will, nothing more. Mrs. Davies may keep the residence and all other accessories.”
“I’m sorry, but as Mrs. Davies’s representative, I can’t allow that. We can only offer Ashley one third of what she was previously entitled.”
By now the brunette was fuming. She was tired, annoyed, and fed up with her mother’s games. Without warning, Ashley abruptly stood and headed towards the door. Just before leaving, she turned one last time to the puzzled faces, scanning the room until finally her cold stare locked eyes with the woman she hated most in this world.
“I’m tired of this Mom, and I’m done playing this game. I’ll see you in court.” And with that, she stormed out, leaving everyone else to sit in mystification.
The rest of the week carried a similar mood for Ashley. Over the next couple of days, that same, beautiful voice that made angels soar, was used to yell on the phone with Jerry, and her body was drowned in papers of legal work. Finally, on Wednesday night, the tired brunette caught a break. She crashed on her couch and was unable to move. Ashley’s body had calmed, but her head was still spinning. Tomorrow she would see Spencer, and she couldn’t help but wonder how the girl was going to act. Would she avoid Ashley? Would she be angry with her and tell her that she hates the brunette for trying to pull a stunt like that? These questions continued to float around inside her head until sleep finally came.
As she awoke the next morning, Ashley suddenly got a feeling of anxiety in the pit of her stomach. Was she actually nervous to see the blonde? This was definitely a first. Snapping back to reality, she proceeded to get ready. Ashley appeared at the front doors right on time, and as she walked in, she couldn’t spot Spencer anywhere. The brunette contemplated the idea that Spencer might have skipped work today just to avoid her. Before this thought could get very far though, Ashley saw her appear from a back room. Unfortunately, this caused the nervous feeling to settle back in. Taking a deep, courageous breath, Ashley approached the counter.

Oh for the love of all that is green and leafy. Imagine my amazement and sheer joy at noticing two of my favorite fic’s updated in a row. First you, then complicated. But enough of that. I hate Ashley’s mom, and you’ve written her so well that I can’t possibly but hate her more. You make my heart ache for Ash and make me want SPencer to wrap the little ‘un up in her arms and make it all ok. You write so well that I’m actually gunning for these guys. Sheesh. Love your work. LOVE YOUR WORK!

Nice to get a little insight into what’s happening between Ash and her mother. I really like how Ash melted when Spence greeted Paula and um, that better not be Aiden :( eeek!
