I sigh in frustration, “Mom”

“I’m sorry, they’re staying in the palms I’m sure they are used to it” she replied

“Yeah but”

I knew she was going to yell at me if I tried to argue, I didn’t want to seem ungrateful. My mother has never once taken our fortunate lives for granted she got upset when we would complain about the life they had worked for us to have.

“it’s fine don’t worry about it” I finally say

“You might need to put some gas in it though”  she replied before walking back into her room

I sighed getting off the couch, at least it would kill some time
“Ky, I’ll be right back” I yelled before grabbing the keys and walking to the car

I got back and beeped for Kyla to come outside before making driving over to Ashley’s place of stay.

“Why isn’t the roof down?” Kyla asked me

“I don’t know isn’t that a bit much?” I asked

“Spence I don’t know why you worry so much, I don’t think that she is going to care what type of family you come from”

Their door opened and they walked down the path, Kyla had to get out of her seat in order for them to climb in the backseat

“Do you guys want Spencer’s top on or off?” Kyla asked them as they got settled

Ashley coughed, “Um what?”

“Yeah what?” I asked very embarrassed and confused

“Her convertible, you perverts…on or off”

“Ky I think you mean to say ‘do you want the roof up or down’”

“Oh my bad” Kyla laughed and I caught Ashley’s eyes on me through the rear view mirror

“Down obviously” Blake chimed in

I put the roof down and drove to the beach we couldn’t really talk with the wind and all so I just blasted the music. We got a few looks from the people in nearby cars, at one stop like there was a jeep full of guys around our age that wouldn’t leave us alone. Blake was teasing them saying she wanted to hang out with them later, poor kids wouldn’t stand a chance. With Ashley gay, Kyla taken, myself with one too many objects of affection and Blake being positively stunning these kids would be taken out of the game before it even began. We finally got to the beach and settled into a spot that we picked out, laid out our towels and got comfortable. Kyla was to my right and to my left was Ashley, Blake was on the other side of Ash. I was facing Ashley and conveniently both Kyla and Ashley’s sister were facing away from us listening to their iPods. After about 20 minutes I reached over and laid my hand on top of Ashley’s, her eyes shot open and she took her head phones out.
