    A Vampire's Lament – (Chapter: 7-Confrontation)

We were standing around in complete silence when Spencer’s cell phone began to ring. "Hello?" She asked into the mouth piece, not shying her frustration away from the other people on the line. There was a loud noise of static and Spencer yelped in pain as she dropped the phone on the ground. I was scared so I wrapped my arms around Spencer immediately when the phone began to spark.

"Spencer…Come…to…Ohio…Family…emergency…" an unfamiliar voice said, before the phone just spontaneously exploded. We all ducked for cover and we stayed in the same position for a minute before we knew it was safe. Spencer was looking far more concerned than any one of us and I could feel the panic rising within her.

Instinctively, I said, "Want me to come with you?" She looked into my eyes and nodded. "Wait, I’m coming with. I’m more familiar with Spencer’s family anyway." Aiden suggested. I glared at him and flashed him my fangs with an infamous vampire hiss.

"I’m all the company she needs so stay put if you know what’s good for you." I say, running towards the main entrance with Spencer leading the way. It’s a good thing we were wearing our clothes from the other day because I’d be damned if I had to change when something important was going on. The only thing I needed was protective eye wear and we’re out the door.

The moment we stepped outside, it wasn’t the sunlight’s extreme heat that was bothering both Spencer and I but the conflict I was feeling that was going on somewhere nearby.

Spencer had tears running down her cheeks and begged for me to speed up as I drove legally fast enough to reach her home which was quite far indeed.

Something was clenching my heart since there was something severely unusual about this unnecessary war. Any asshole or perfectly sane person would want revenge for the murder of their family members but to bring the rest of immortal kind in danger is plain stupidity.

I personally had done nothing wrong to this douche that supposedly wants us but if we’re in peril then I’ll take these matters into my own hands.

We finally reached Spencer’s neighborhood and there was a gathering crowd in front of a large house. The infuriated girl beside me cried out in shock and was starting to rock back and fourth in her seat. My foot pressed against the break pad gently even though I really had an urge to run those bastards over.
