    A Vampire's Lament – (Chapter: 1-The Last Sunrise)

"Alright, we better leave right now then before sunrise. Give me the medicine, Judith, she’s bleeding excessively." The woman with a more slender figure said. She lifted Ashley’s damaged body without a struggle and felt a needle release some sort of substance into her bloodstream.

Ashley moaned at the warmth of the unknown feelings growing within her. Her half-opened eyes scanned the woman carrying her and she was absolutely beautiful. She had long, wavy red hair and her gray eyes stared right into the soul of young Ashley Davies. Who were these impeccably beautiful women and why were they rescuing them?

"It won’t be long now, fledgling. Just close your eyes as we fly away to safety." She whispered soothingly into her ear. With that said, both of the women nodded at each other and opened Kyla’s window widely. "Hold on, young one. We’re going to fly in the safety of the shadows and away from the sunlight’s burning rays." Said the other woman, gripping Kyla tightly and securely.

Ashley and Kyla were both lifted into the air magically somehow and their saviors carried them gracefully towards the Cascade mountains. Ashley did not have the strength to question her guardian and instead gazed at the sunrise that was barely exposing itself from a great distance.

A few feet away from her, she saw Kyla stirring in the arms of the other woman. Happiness filled Ashley’s heart and for the next few minutes, she stared at the sunrise lovingly before she closed her eyes sleepily. This would be the last time Ashley and Kyla Davies would ever appreciate the sunlight ever again…

    [PRESENT TIME]

"Ashley! Ashley, wake up!" a frightened voice called out. I lay in my bed quivering for a moment before my eyelids opened with great relief surging through my veins. The nightmare of our past haunted me again for the second time this year.

I slowly lifted my frail body off the bed and I found Kyla staring at me worriedly. "Were you having the dream again, sweetie?" She asked as she stroked my wavy bangs out of my face. I didn’t like to admit it but yes, I did have the dream. I nodded gracefully and glanced at the digital clock behind Kyla’s head.
