A Red Sunset
“Nice acting. I’m impressed. So seriously…it’s killing me Jane, no offence but he was by far the sexiest man you have ever been with”
“I’m not with him Julie dear” I said through my teeth.
“Well…you will be, we all know that. Stop stalling and spill” she said. I got up and closed the blinds and crept back into the room, where seeing Haley might calm me.
“You saw Julie, we just danced…he is an amazing dancer though” I was distracted from my fear to the memory of him. Juliet giggled over the phone.
“Oooh for once I get details” she said “more” she commanded.
And I went through a detailed description of his body, his eyes (leaving out the red part) and how I was already falling.
“Jane, I have a feeling about this one” she said when we were at the end of our conversation. I snorted.
“A feeling? Oh well it must be true…any more for me psychic?” I joked.
“Shut Up Jane and be serious, honestly, he was such a gentleman.”
She wasn’t lying.
“Haha ok Julie, how ‘bout you come over tomorrow, Haley will stay here, and we’ll have a big heart-to-heart about it” I said
“Okay Janey!” she said.
“Bye Julie”
“Bye Jane”
Click.
The fear crept back, and red eyes swirled about in my mind. I collapsed on my bed and tried to sleep.
At midday I woke up to Haley cooking and singing horribly to my CDs. I loved this song, so I decided to go down and tell her to stop ruining it.
“HEY HALES! SHUT IT” I yelled from my bedroom. Feeling better, after sleeping and the thought of seeing him again today had me on a high.
When I got into the kitchen Haley threw her classic ditsy grin at me.
“Oh my god, did you just yell” she abandoned the eggs and came over to me and pulled me into a dance. I freed myself, turned the stereo up, and made sure the eggs weren’t burning.
“Yes. I yelled” I said in between giggles.
Juliet let herself in with her spare key, and had stood there secretly filming us making absolute fools of ourselves. Haley caught her and tackled her, and the morning passed in this ridiculous fashion of three friends. Until it was around half three, and I mentioned my imminent date.
