    “Huh?”

    I like everything she does, no I love everything she does but when she gets shy and nervous about us my heart overflows and I’m overwhelmed by an emotion that’s both frightening and comforting at the same time. “When I thought out loud earlier you got angry”

     

    “I was angry because we were arguing Tina. You picked the worst moment to tell me.”

     

    “I think it was the best moment to tell you”

     

    Bette glared at me as she tossed a few chucks of pineapples into the juicer. I waited for the noise to subside before speaking again. “Whenever we argue you’ll remember that it was during an argument that I first told you I loved you and your anger will dissipate.”

     

    Her anger was still very much there so I decided to share what I was thinking when I’d said those words at the wrong moment “I saw you washing the bananas, then the oranges fruits you would later peel anyway. Something that would have struck me as odd before you suddenly seemed natural and I thought ‘it’s coz I love you’ I realised the things you do, say would forever be right because you’re right for me.”

    Bette moved away from her juicer and came around the counter to take me in her arms. She adores her juicer and for her to choose me over it was all the declaration I needed.

     

    After a fair bit of kissing I decided I needed to hear the words too. “You still haven’t said how you feel”

     

    “Sure I have”

     

    No she hasn’t! It would have been engraved in my mind … in my heart. “No you haven’t”

     

    “Yes I have”

     

    “When?”

     

    “Three weeks ago when I took your car for servicing. Your schedule was insane and I was worried your engine might blow from neglect. I couldn’t have the woman I love stuck on the side of the road somewhere. The act of servicing your car was a declaration of my love.”

     

    She tried to kiss me but I pulled back from her eager lips and looked into her eyes “That’s sweet but you need to be more mouthy”

     

    “I can do that.” She dropped to her knees and said “I love you” then got mouthy between my trembling thighs.

    9. Ally, this is truly fun to read. I love the bit about Tina realizing the benefits of her piano training as it benefits her lovemaking skills. That was an amusing, quirky thought. Their texting narrative was clever, too. I could really feel Bette’s mounting insistence in the zings she texted to wear down Tina’s resistance.

      I’m enjoying a writing exercise, too, of creating those moments off screen in this crazy place I decided to drop into that takes place somewhere in the season 5 narrative after their She Bar kiss. I tried my hand at writing one of Bette’s mental melt down inner narrative screeds. I hadn’t thought about going as far back into their history as you did. It’s a rich place to write from. Good choice, and nice going.
