Shane´s mother:”So he kept my letter.I sent him a letter after finishing the program for addicts.It was a few years ago. ..Is he alright?”

Shane:”Yes i think so.He had a family, an adorable wife and a son too ,but he lost them”.

Shane´s mother(confused):”What happened?It sounds tragic”.

Shane:” Nothing happened .He traded his family for a woman of my age,yes,what he did _That is the tragedy”.

Shane´s mother:”Oh i see ,he didn´t change.Maybe.someday he will wake up. ..And you? Do you have a family,husband,boyfriend,girlfriend?….”

Shane:”I left my girlfriend at the altar, two days ago…”

Shane´s mother:”She cheated on you?…”

Shane:”No!And please ,i don´t want to talk about it.So do you have a family?”

Shane´s mother:”No …is just me…and my friends .They are like a family.Do you feel alright? You look tired,and very pale….”

Shane:”I feel cold…and my head hurts.”

Her mother aproaches her and look her face,then touches her head:You have a temperature…maybe it was something you ate”.

Shane:”I haven´t eaten anything since i got here..I can´t.”

Shane´s mother:”You need eat something Shane…let me prepare you something…Im an excellent cook now”.She takes some bacon and eggs from the fridge,turns on the stove and starts to cook.

Shane:”Why didn´t you ever try to find me?Why did you leave me?Didn´t you love me?Shane looks her mother,waiting for the answer.

Her mother is not surprised,she has waited for this moment for too many years ,and now the time has come.Before answering she finished cooking and served the food.She took a seat opposite Shane:”First i want to apolize _I know is late ,but i need to do it”.”Why i did it?..I was lost in life….i was a drug addict and I couldn’t help myself, and couldn’t take care of you. One day i looked you and i thought:´Why do i treat you this way?You are the only good think in my life,the only one that never hurt me, so innocent and pure.You deserve a better life.A beautiful life.What if i never can give it to you?´So i made the worst decision of my life,and it wasn´t easy ,because i love you so much,but i thougt it was best for you.Did i try to find you?One day after finishing the recovery program i was determined to do it;to find you.I called my best friend and told her about my decision.She said:´I don´t think that´s a good idea.I´m happy for you and i know you love your daughter ,but maybe she has a family now and she is happy with them.Think about it: maybe you´ll butt and make her life all a mess.Why don´t you wait ?If someday she wants to come back to you she will find you´.I cryed all night long because i knew that was the plain truth -and that hurts…”

Shane:”Children´s Services found me a family.One day somebody told me that you were in Austin .I ran away from the foster home and went to Austin.But i never found you.I lived in different refuges and……Oh ,sometimes slept in the streets,and there were those mens -they thought I was a man and pay me for sex.One of them helped me to leave that life.He paid my for my beauty school.Oh,talking about drugs- I like acid .That´s the life you gave to me.”
Shane stopped eatting,she stands up, she´s angry ….she wants hate her mother but she can´t because she realizes she is in the same situation.Suddenly she grows weak in the knees and everything around her gets blurry, she drops to the floor. Her mother immediately tries to revive her, to get her to regain consciousness.

Later that night.
Shane and Carmen are lay on bed, they are in different cities… none of them can sleep, because they cannot stop thinking of each other. They decide to turn on the radio and casually they hear the same station. A song starts…
