When Tina awoke that morning, the first thing she saw was the crack in the ceiling. She wondered why she was torturing herself by staring at that damnable crack.  Like her whole relationship with Bette, that crack symbolized how broken they were, and she wasn’t about to take out the plaster and start repairing it.  No way.  Knowing it was early, she dressed and left the apartment, wanting to get to the doctor’s office as early as possible, but also wanting to avoid Alice.

Alice who had pleaded with her to at least give Bette a call, to maybe start mending that fence that had been so broken and torn down.  Tina hadn’t refused; she’d just shut up and walk away every time that Alice brought it up.  If Alice asked her today, she’d be a spitfire about it, she’d tell Alice, no, they were not going to mend fences, it was over.  The Bette and Tina show was done, the curtain was closed, and it was time to cast a new set of players in their lives.

The drive there was uneventful; Tina exited the car, locked her doors, and went up to the office on the 17th floor.  It took only fifteen minutes, upon her arrival at the office, for Dr. Wilson to take her, ushering her into the inner office with a friendly nod.

“I can’t believe this is happening. When I did this, I thought I had a certain amount of security.  Whether it worked or not, I thought Bette and I were solid,” said Tina in a lullaby voice.  That dreaminess had clung to her since she’d awoken that morning; the police officer’s words clinging to her still.  To give Bette what she deserved, a tongue lashing, and not of the sexual kind, a down and dirty, truthful statement that might actually have Bette Porter thinking for once, maybe, even leave her speechless.  Now that would be a sight, Bette with her mouth hanging open, unable to form words, but Tina wasn’t sure she had it in her to do something like that, she wasn’t that woman.

    2. “all Bette could think about was that Tina hadn’t listened to her, hadn’t cared about her feelings. Tina had totally turned her off. Bette had broken the best thing in her life, ” Tough times, times two, woo.

    3. Now that I can read these fics after bringing up the rear, this is proof that you can write a straight story about these folks, and you did an excellent job! It’s obvious that you are a writer in your other life away from the boards, too!
